Wishing you an Easter filled with Love, Peace, and Joy of Springtime!

Dearest Country Traditions Friends,

German writer Johann Wolfgang von Goethe wrote, "We must always change, renew, rejuvenate ourselves: otherwise we harden."  Spring is the right time to renew  and rejuvenate: an opportunity to soften.  The season lends us moments to shed our skin and blossom.  We are reunited with an energy that has sat still within our sleepy souls during the winter time.

As we eagerly wait for Spring, the time of renewal,  regeneration and rebirth. It seems mother nature is playing with us a little this year. I know Spring is coming, if one looks, the little signs are around us. A Robin taking a bath in the puddle in the driveway, the bunnies hopping    around the yard, and the birds teasing the cats through the window.  Today, whether you are inspired by the sentiments of Easter or the fresh smell of a gentle breeze, or the bright spring colors of a New fabric collection, take a moment to appreciate the process by which you become renewed.

Soon it will be time to dig in the dirt and freshen things up.  As we wait patiently for Spring to show it's self, why not "hop" into your favorite quilt shop.   Country Traditions is "Anew" in so many ways.  New fabric collections arriving daily, a New Point of Sales System to learn, exciting Classes and Activities in the planning stages, NEW machine additions to the PFAFF line up, rearranging of the fabric shelves,  a NEW Saturday Sampler starting and a NEW look to  our Email: Newsletter As the Bobbins Winds, (Whew...) things sure are "Hopping" and moving around the shop.  We sure hope you get to visit us at the shop soon!  Your visit would make our spring complete!

May your Bobbin Always be Full,

Your Country Traditions Friends

  • Chalk it up.  Paint eggs with chalkboard paint and let them dry.  Now, write or draw quilting patterns on your eggs with  the designer Chalk Ink pens (found at Country Traditions, of course!).  Not sure of your design, just erase it and start over!
  • Make colorful Easter Grass.  Are you workings on a quilting project, save all the little trimmings from your rotary cutting, and little scraps you would throw away. Proudly display, the colors of your future project in an easter basket.
  • Add a little glitter.  Dye eggs any color and let them dry well.  Working with one side of the egg at a time, squeeze dots of glue onto the shell.  Then, pour glitter, gently  over the egg. Turn it over and repeat on the other side.  To get rid of extra glitter, gently brush a dry, sparkly egg with an old toothbrush.
  • Speckle your eggs!  Dye them any color you desire, and let them dry.  Dip a dry toothbrush in acrylic craft paint, dab excess paint on wax paper, and run your thumb over the bristles so paint splatters on dyed eggs.
Share your creativity.......If you use any of these fun decorating ideas or have some ideas of your own...please, post your creations on our Facebook page

"You've Been Framed!"
2014's Web Sampler Block-Of-The-Month

Welcome to our 2014 Internet Block-of-the-Month Program. This is our gift to you for being such a loyal reader of our "As the Bobbin Winds" newsletter. As you know, the sampler block patterns for this quilt are only made available to the loyal readers of the "As the Bobbin Winds" Email newsletter.

Over the 12-month course, you will receive directions on how to construct (12) different framed blocks. They will start out easy and work their way up in difficulty as we progress throughout the year. In the last month, you will receive the directions for the final layout and finishing of this beautiful Web Sampler Quilt.
This particular project has been designed to be scrappy in nature, however, if you would like to purchase fabric to make yours, we have included suggested yardage with the first block pattern. We made our sample using batiks, but it would be beautiful and exciting to see it made up in any line of your choice...Kansas Troubles, Jo Morton, or just some vibrant tonals would be lovely. Let your imagination be your guide. It will be sensational, no matter what fabric you choose.
