AFTERSOUND:
Frequency, Attack, Return

Curated by Melissa Ragona + Margaret Cox
Aug. 21 – Nov. 22, 2015
Sept. 11, Fri. 6-8pm: Reception
Sound has entered contemporary art in profound and unexpected ways. This exhibition explores sound’s infiltration into contemporary discussions of aural and visual culture, with a particular focus on sound visualization, the physics of sound, political uses of sound, i.e. sonic warfare and DIY, as well as the resurgence of neo-metaphysical experiments with sound as a portal to new sensory experiences.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: AFTERSOUND
will include visual scores and graphic notations
by several contemporary artists. We also invite the larger community of artists and practitioners to be considered for an extended on-line exhibition that pushes the envelope of how sound might be visualized. Send your most innovative examples
as a high res image, video or url link to
miller-gallery@andrew.cmu.edu.
DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION: July 1, 2015.
