Larimar
There's no need to travel to the Caribbean to find Larimar jewelry. We recently received a new shipment - set in sterling silver. Found in the Dominican Republic, Larimar was rediscovered in 1974 - not that long ago. Larimar is sometimes called Atlantis Stone by locals since it is said that a wise local prophet once said that the Dominican Republic was part of the lost continent of Atlantis. Regardless, the pieces we have are lovely. Stop in and see them!

Sapphires have been prized for almost 3000 years. The ancient Persians believed that the earth rested on a giant Sapphire and its reflection colored the sky. Sapphires have been worn to ward off disease and to bring peace and happiness. They have also been given as a token of loyalty and to let the wearer know that they are loved.

It's our 25th Anniversary!
On September 1st 1992, Nancy opened Gemstone Creations at 524 Caroline Street. At that time the store occupied just one room with storage and a workshop in the back. Nancy sold beaded jewelry that she had created and some other pieces that she purchased. In 2006 we moved to our current location at 606 Caroline Street and now have three rooms of jewelry with a workshop and office/work area. It's been a wonderful and fantastic 25 years. We have made so many friends along the way.
We hope you will join us on September 8th and 9th from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm each day as we celebrate. We'll have refreshments and fun. September Birthstone
September's birthstone is Sapphire. Historically, fine Sapphire originated in the Kashmir district of the Himalayas in India. Now Thailand, Sri Lanka, Australia, Myanmar, Madagascar and Kenya all produce Sapphires. The most valuable Sapphires are the intense blue color - often referred to as cornflower blue. Also, Ceylon Sapphire, generally a light violet-blue in color, is often used to describe color and not origin. Very dark or very light Sapphires are often the least expensive.
