HAPPY  HOLIDAYS!!!

I can't believe this.....where did the year go?  This will probably be the last Gab for 2017.  I have to thank all of you who have read and supported the GAB this year.  When the GAB was in its developmental stages we really weren't sure what it was going to be.  But it has turned into a fun and informative read which I truly enjoy writing.  The original intent was to put a smile on your face and be a resource for news in the Philadelphia A+D world.  Hopefully we accomplished that.
GOOD NEWS!  The GAB will continue in 2018!  Hooray!
Now, there is a person that you need to meet!  Annette Wilson has been extremely instrumental in the success of the GAB.  She is the editor-in-chief.  Annette finds pics of cats trashing the bathroom, driveways on fire, bad hair days and so on.  She finds great graphics to introduce topics. She is amazing!  That GAB wouldn't be what it is today without her.  Annette - thank you a million times over for doing what you do and making my job fun.  I love you to the moon and back!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  It is truly a wonderful day when family and friends gather together and enjoy a wonderful over-the-top dinner and give thanks and be grateful for the many things we have been blessed with throughout the year.  And did I mention weight gain??  What?  #blessedwithweightgain???? AHHHH! Since it's the most wonderful time of the year, weight gain will undoubtedly be involved somewhere in the picture.  However, it's getting colder which is really good...so bring on the big bulky sweaters and leggings with lots of stretch are the best for concealing those expanding waistlines.  Could you imagine if the winter holidays were in the summer???  So much for swimwear - it's just too hard not to eat.  Especially all those desserts!

I do want to share a quick story about Thanksgiving.  My husband and I, and my dear friend Liz and her husband have for the last 10+ years prepared a turkey for the Glenolden Presbyterian Church on Thanksgiving.  The church provides a dinner for those less fortunate and also boxes up meals for families that cannot go out.  This is a huge event where there are stations of volunteers carving turkeys, serving up all the sides and lots of PIE.  It is such a wonderful feeling to partake in being able to provide for those in need.

Neocon East 2017
So...who attended Neocon East this year?
It was smaller in size and within about 15 minutes you could see the total show.  A few highlights I would like share include:  Global / OTG located front and center and had an outstanding display.  Heidi Azar was incredibly busy with her Clarus boards.  Matt Coscia represented for Andreu World, Patty Streiner at Indiana, the one-and-only Sue Krug with ICF and Neinkamper, Mike Stanczak with non-glare Claridge, Doug Perry with Halcon and Amy McGee with Atlas Carpet's (delicious macarons and a very cool new logo!)
FYI - If you didn't hear Neocon East 2018 is cancelled.  Understandably so, the Neocon committee is going to re-evaluate the show.  Stay tuned to the Gab for more details!

19th Annual CREW Charitable Luncheon
I was once told that if you plan to go to ANY event around the Holidays - the CREW Holiday Luncheon is a MUST!
Over 500 people attended this year's event at the Loews Hotel.  How amazing is that?  Proceeds from the luncheon, raffle and silent auction were donated to their Philanthropic Partner - YouthBuild Philly Charter School, CREW Philadelphia Scholarships and CREW Network Foundation.  Congrats to Tricia Monsell of Interface who was awarded the year's MVP!  What an inspirational group of women leaders.
A highlight of the event for "Team Kershner"  was that our own Annette Wilson was the lucky winner of the raffle prize which was a tree full of gift cards!  How exciting!

VMA Holiday Bash
VMA hosted another fabulous holiday party this year!  I actually refer to it as a "celebrity party" since the people that attend the party are so well-known in the A+D community, and like myself, many have been attending the party for years.  You never know who you will bump into!  It is a party that I wouldn't miss for the world.  Besides, how many parties do you attend where they actually have a whole roasted pig and a jazz group?  Thank you so much VMA for hosting another epic event to kick off the holiday season!

Kershner is once again collecting your donations for Toys For Tots.  I would be happy to come to your office to pick up your donations - just give me a call! It has been called to my attention that they desperately need presents for teenage boys and girls.  Some suggestions are nail polish, lip gloss, fun socks, make-up kits, wristlets, any kind of play balls, sports team t-shirts, athletic socks, back packs.
