Pat Leveque Oakley, Cedar Creek Gallery co-founder and
studio artist, has returned to the studio to make 50 pots
in honor of Cedar Creek Gallery's 50th anniversary.
|
|
|
|
|
|
Pat's hand-coiled pots will come in various shapes, sizes, glazes, colors and prices. The collection is a symphony of light, color, texture and form, enhanced by masterful glazing by one of
our Cedar Creek potters.
|
|
|
|

Menu: barbequed pork, barbequed chicken, baked beans, slaw, rolls, salad, iced tea and dessert. Many of our customers have asked if we'd like them to bring dessert to share. Our response? Yes, please!

What is a birthday party without a present?
To celebrate our big milestone, we have a gift for you!
On both Saturday and Sunday morning,
the first 50 people in the door will get a commemorative dish created in collaboration between Lisa Oakley and Jennifer Stas!
|

|
|
|
|
|
|
This gift is inspired by a tradition set by Sid Oakley, co-founder of Cedar Creek. He used to love to make little bowls to give as kiln opening presents, and Lisa and Jennifer are continuing that tradition.
These dishes marry clay and glass in a symbolic representation
of the craft mediums Cedar Creek was built upon.

June Recipe
Southwestern Squash Sauté
|
|
|
|
|
|
This zesty recipe has been shared by longtime Cedar Creek friend, Nina Cheatham. Southwestern squash is an excellent companion with chicken, fish or pork. Add some cheese, avocado and it makes a wonderful filling for quesadillas.
This recipe reminds our staff member Kathy of her favorite Mexican side dish, Calabacitas.
Serves 4 to 6 as a side dish.

Ingredients
3 tbs. olive oil
1 medium onion, diced
Kosher salt
1 medium red bell pepper, cored, seeded and diced
3 small or medium zucchini or summer squash, cut into 1/3 inch dice
I ear of corn kernels cut from cob
2 garlic cloves
1 large or 2 small fresh hot chilies, such as Serrano or jalapeño, seeded and minced
1 mild chile diced such as poblano or Anaheim, seeded and diced
Freshly ground pepper
1/2 tsp. ground cumin
1/4 tsp. chili pepper
1 to 2 tbs. chili powder
1 to 2 tbs. roughly chopped fresh cilantro
1/2 lime

Directions
Set large skillet over medium-high heat. When hot, add 2 tbs.of oil and heat. Add onion, season with a little salt and saute until translucent, about 2 minutes. Add bell pepper, a little more salt and saute for 1 to 2 minutes. Transfer the onion and pepper to a bowl.
Turn heat to high and add remaining 1 tbs. of oil and squash. Season with salt and saute for 3 or 4 minutes, stirring occasionally, so it begins to brown lightly and flesh turns slightly translucent.
Return pepper and onion to pan, add corn, garlic, and chilies and saute another few minutes. Season with freshly ground pepper, cumin and chili powder.
Toss in the cilantro and squeeze the lime over all, toss and serve immediately.
