|
November 11, 2018 was the 100th year anniversary of the armistice of WWI. This armistice did not officially end that war. The official end came on the 28th of June, 1919 when the signing of the Treaty of Versailles went into full force. However, since the U.S. never signed the Treaty of Versailles, the armistice on November 11th really did end the war for the United States.
Several years later an act of the US Congress was approved on May 13th, 1938, which made November 11th a legal holiday known as Armistice Day. This day was originally intended to honor veterans of WWI. After the US entered World War II and the American forces fought in Korea, the veterans service organizations, in 1954, urged Congress to change the word "Armistice" to "Veterans". Congress approved this change and on June 1st, 1954,
November 11th became a day to honor all American veterans,
where ever and whenever they had served.
Here at Arizona Quilts we are thankful to all veterans and their untiring commitment to keep us safe. We are also grateful for their families who carry a heavy burden and the unique challenges that a military life can create. Several of our team members have either served themselves or have family members serving today.

You will learn the skills to create a block, background & border designs using ruler work. It's so much fun!

Collage Cactus w/ Gail will be held on Mon., Dec. 3 from 10am-4pm. This 11-panel cactus pattern is great. Laura Heine created a fun project. It takes time, but is well worth the effort. In this class you will begin to coordinate color using your imagination at all times. We will have lots of fun while exploring this desert masterpiece!

Walking Foot 101 w/ Carrie will be held on Fri., Dec., 7 from 10am-3pm. It's time to get your walking foot out of the ditch! Join Carrie as she shares her favorite quilting tool: The Walking Foot! You will learn the basics of starting & stopping quilt lines, how to plan stitching paths, marking methods and unique designs-all with your walking foot! No free motion allowed!
