I think most of us have some childhood memories of Valentine's Day of long past. My memories consist of my mom and I heading to our local Fed-Mart store to search for that ever -so - important box of Valentine's cards for my grade school classmates. As I carefully would examine the outside of each box for what I thought might contain that one most important card in its entire collection. You probably have guessed who that most important card would be for-yes that one special little girl in my class that I hoped, after receiving my carefully picked amazingly special card, would at that point have no choice but to be my Valentine! Very honestly though, this whole experience would most times leave me feeling like "Charlie Brown" of Peanuts and his infamous pursuit of "The Little Red-Haired Girl"...his heart-throb. In almost the same fashion, my special card would be delivered and there would be little or no response from that one little girl I had such high hopes of becoming my Valentine!
That experience along with others helped prepare me for that wonderful day that came later in life when I did meet my one true Valentine. I can remember that 28th day of January 1978 like it was just last month! I was ice skating at our local rink sharpening my hockey turns when a high school skating group named the "Polar Bears" invaded my ice.
As I navigated through the extra bodies on the rink, it became evident that some of these Polar Bears were pretty cute and cuddly. After surveying a few of these bears, one of them stood out and was a beautiful sandy blonde haired blue-eyed girl in a gray cowl-neck sweater. I quickly moved in and used one of my patented pickup lines ... "Is your name Sheri, because you look exactly like a girl named Sheri that went to my high school." This smooth line eventually gained me this gorgeous girl's phone number and our first date. I'm sure by now you have deducted that this beautiful cuddly bear was my sweet Debe who has been my special Valentine for 41 years!

Choose your pattern and learn this great fast and easy technique for doing raw edge applique using fusible thread!

Collage Cactus w/ Gail will be held on Sat., Mar. 2 from 10am-4pm. This 11-panel cactus pattern is great. Laura Heine created a fun project. It takes time, but is well worth the effort. In this class you will begin to coordinate color using your imagination at all times. We will have lots of fun while exploring this desert masterpiece!

Desert Sky w/ Kelly will begin on Fri., Mar. 8 for 2 sessions. A fan favorite beginning pattern and easy to choose fabrics. Pick 24 fat quarters and you are ready to go. Cutting is easy with layout sheets. With the smaller class size you get lots of personalized help. Taught by Judy Niemeyer CI, Kelly Grant.

Sweet Tweet Thread Sketching w/ Carrie will be held on Sat., Mar. 30 from 10am - 3pm. Spend the day with Carrie and learn a new type of applique: free motion thread sketching applique. From the book, Sweet Tweets by Erin Cox, you will create an adorable whimsical bird wall hanging of your choice. You will learn tips and tricks about thread sketching. This method is quick and fun!!
