As I walk around our store I am reminded, by the plethora of accents I hear, of what time of year it is... winter visitor time! From those East Coast brogues to Mid-Western fast talkers to the Southern drawls, we are blessed to host folks from all over the U.S. that are shadowing our doors. You can also hear phrases like, "That's a beautiful quilt, eh?" exposing our friends from north of the border. One of the things we love about quilting is how each shop has its own personality and the diversity of the fabrics they offer that many times represents them regionally. For us here at Arizona Quilts, we try to always have a wide selection of Southwest-inspired fabrics that are "muy caliente" along with a myriad of other options that make us uniquely who we are! For all those folks visiting, our goal is to enable you to take a little bit of Arizona home with you.
In my memory, a fun part of traveling or vacationing is bringing home mementoes of your awesome experiences while on your trip.
I had already started writing this newsletter early last week when its subject topic was reinforced with our first customer on Saturday morning.
A gentleman came walking in sporting his Kansas City Royals tee shirt and cap before heading to the game, whom I immediately addressed and asked if I could help him. Without any hesitation he said, "I'm looking for a gift to take home to my wife with an Arizona flair!" As my eyes lit up I shared with him I was writing about that very subject in our newsletter this week. This guy quickly impressed me as I showed him our Southwest section when he questioned me... "Do you have any kits that showcase these colors?" At this point, I summoned one of our capable staff, SuzAnne, to help guide our new friend in finding a fun project. We had sold all our Southwest kits so Suzanne helped him pick out a pattern, suggested some fabrics, then cut a custom kit to take home to his wife in Kansas!
This story was a great reminder of the fun of finding that hidden treasure from a fun place to solidify your great adventure! We hope you will stop by a few times to find that uniquely Arizona project, gift, or stash builder to help you create something "muy caliente"!

Choose your pattern and learn this great fast and easy technique for doing raw edge applique using fusible thread!
