Guinness Record Watch

We posted this on Facebook a few days ago but a Guinness World Record was recently awarded for most diamonds set on a watch. Inspired by Peonies the incredible art piece features 15,858 diamonds that weigh 50.01 carats.
April 15th is coming. Have you filed your taxes yet? If not, you have a couple more weeks to get them done.
Kimberly's Carats

Diamond - the hardest gem of all is made of just one element: carbon. It’s valued for its colorless nature and purity. Most diamonds are primeval—over a billion years old—and form deep within the earth.

You can also say that diamonds are one in a million as the average yield in most diamond mines is one part diamond to 1 million parts host rock.
Crater of Diamonds State Park
We have talked many times about diamonds being found at Crater of Diamonds State Park, not too far from Murfreesboro, Arkansas. Although millions of carats of diamonds are consumed each year in the United States, Crater of Diamonds is the only active diamond mine in the country. Since the early 1970's recreational prospectors have been finding a few hundred carats of diamonds there each year. Many of the diamonds found are colored - most commonly yellow or brown. The park features a 37 acre plowed field that is the remnants of an ancient volcano. Visitors pay a fee to search the field either with their own equipment, equipment you can rent at the park or no equipment at all. The best part is you get to keep what you find! If you are ever in or near Arkansas you might want to consider a trip!
April Birthstone
April's birthstone is Diamond. Diamond holds significant meaning for those born in April and is thought to provide the wearer with better relationships and an increase in inner strength. Wearing diamonds is also thought to bring other benefits such as balance, clarity and abundance. It's also symbolic of eternal love. During the Middle Ages, diamonds were thought to hold healing powers and to cure ailments stemming from the pituitary gland and brain. By heating the crystal and taking it to bed, it was thought to draw out the harmful toxins that were crippling the body. It was also believed that diamonds could have an effect on an individual’s balance and clarity and could boost their energy when combined with other crystals like amethyst.
