John Wayne
Several months ago Debe came home and said, "We ordered the coolest line of fabric today." So with some skepticism I said, "Oh really sweetheart, tell me more." To my delight, she said, "No seriously, you're going to love it." Then my sweet bride continued on with a measure of excitement... "It's a Riley Blake collection starring ... John Wayne." Just the mere mention of "The Duke" and my attention was now full and focused! Because of the story below we have been a bit distracted as of late, so when I finally got back to the store, I was elated to see the entire collection stacked on the cutting table ready to be tagged! As I unwrapped several of the bolts to snap a few shots, I was truly taken aback at the beauty of the main digitally printed panel and how realistic it looks! I also was immediately ushered on a trip down memory lane as I looked at the bolt of movie posters and I reminisced about where I was when seeing almost every one of the Duke's movies! What's even funnier is that there is a bolt of John Wayne quotes and in my almost 60 years, I have been known to repeat a few... just ask my kids!
A few of my employees over the years have heard more than one of these being uttered from my lips - such as "Truth is the measure of a man" or "A man gotta do what a man gotta do." And of course one my favorites "Hurry it up we're burning daylight!" This beautiful collection has me already looking for a pattern for Racheal to make another cool quilt for her dad!

Last Tuesday morning a little after midnight we said goodbye to my big brother, Mark, who lost a several day struggle to regulate his heart. He survived a heart attack with a little help from his friends while working. After a successful quadruple by-pass surgery the previous Thursday, his heart challenged the very capable surgeons and medical staff to help keep it beating,
but to no avail.
The above 2 pictures are a pretty good example I how spent a good portion of my life... looking up to my brother, Mark! I will miss you!
Special thanks to our team for holding down the fort while we've been walking through the last couple of weeks.

These beautiful quilts can be made using only ONE print fabric. Deb will teach you time saving tricks and tips to create this "seemingly challenging" quilt.

Running with Scissors Tool Bag w/ Nanette begins on Thurs., July 11th for 2 sessions. This great little tote will hold all of your sewing and quilting tools from scissors to rotary cutter, tape measure, thread, ruler and more. It even has a handy little pressing pad! Photo Transfer w/ Deb will be held on Friday, July 12th from 10am-4pm. If you have a favorite photo that you want to turn into a piece of art, well here’s your chance. You will be shown how to print your photo onto fabric, the steps to set the ink so it will last forever, and then create a unique wall hanging. You can incorporate trapunto, thread painting, beads, whatever you want. The sky is the limit. Just let loose and be creative!
