And Sew On... July 29th, 2019

2019 "Jaftex" Shop Tour!

Image
A few weeks ago, you may recall that our newsletter included an article about supporting your local quilt shop written by Scott Fortunoff, the president of Jaftex Corporation. Last year Scott challenged quilt shop owners to shoot a Facebook Live video tour of their store.
As Debe and I cogitated this concept, we decided to forgo Scott's challenge in 2018 for several reasons...one of which was we were in the middle of transitioning our point of sale system. Our first attempt at Facebook Live was in January, when we announced our 2nd-year-anniversary celebration using FB Live. From there we tried wading into the shallow water with a few more random FB Live posts. And now we are swimming laps in the deep end of the Olympic sized pool with FB Live videos being produced almost weekly!
Scott has once again thrown down the gauntlet to shop owners and this year we will be accepting his challenge! We are excited about the opportunity to showcase our store! This Wednesday, 7/31/19, we will be shooting our video in the morning sometime and would love it if you tuned in. So now you may be asking how can I see this video? We're so glad you asked! You can see our live video by clicking this link to our Facebook page:

https://www.facebook.com/ArizonaQuilts/

Once you are on our page, you can click the Like button just below the green cactus and this should alert you that we are going live and any other posts we send out of classroom projects or pics of our wonderful customers dropping by for a little show-and-tell of their projects. Never fear if you miss the live presentation, the video will remain on our FB page for you to go back and watch later at your convenience. We would also love it if you would like and  share this week's video, as the winning store will be the one with the most views. I'm attaching a picture of our FB page with arrows pointing to the Like button to help get you started.

One more thing, all the videos in the contest will be on Scott's FB page as well where a like and or a share would be appreciated too! Here is his link if you would be interested in hearing/seeing more from Scott through the lens of the manufacturer's perspective.

So whether you are in our store regularly, come seasonally or  we have never had the pleasure of meeting you, we sure hope this video tour of Arizona Quilts will inspire and encourage you. It may even put a smile on your face! Hope to "see" you on Wednesday!!!

Happy Facebook Live Quilting!

Either size can be used as a companion to the Running with Scissors Tool Case as a stand. The larger tote will hold an iron or small sewing machine. Bag has lots of pockets with zippers and opens wide for easy access!

Fiber Arts-Thread Play w/ Deb will be held on Thurs., Sept. 12th from 10am-4pm. Deb will help you gain confidence about free motion quilting, while adding color and design with thread!
Image
Folded Star w/ Deb will be held Thurs., Sept. 19th from 10am-4pm. Folded Star is a bit like fabric origami! The pattern is created from folding and layering different fabrics. This technique was common back in the '80's and is making a comeback! It's so simple to do, yet looks great using modern fabrics.
Image
Poppins Bag w/ Nanette begins on Fri., Sept. 20th for 2 sessions from 9:30am-3:30pm. This large zipper topped bag is great to hold all kinds of wonderful things! It is about 14" tall and 18" wide and has pockets inside and out to keep everything organized. Metal stays come with the pattern to help this bag keep its shape. It can be made from a focus fabric or 2 1/2" strips. You might also be interested in making one of the smaller versions of the Poppins bag. You are free to choose the size!

Free-Motion Quilting 101 w/ Carrie will be held on Sat., Sept. 21 from 10am-3pm. Join Carrie and learn the basics of free-motion quilting on your domestic sewing machine: from choosing thread, batting, and needles to stitching on your quilt top. Carrie will guide you through a variety of designs, such as stippling, loops flames, etc. Learn free-motion fundamentals to create beautiful quilts while having free-motion fun!

Revealing the Mystery of the One Block Wonder w/ Deb begins on Thurs., Sept. 26 from 10am-4pm. Though it looks complicated, this spectacular kaleidoscope quilt is easy to sew: the fabric does all the work! These beautiful quilts are made using only ONE print fabric for the body of the quilt and border - or you can use a different coordinating print for the border. Deb will teach you her time saving tips and tricks to create this "seemingly challenging" quilt.

As always, we thank you for your friendship & your business.

Stay safe and happy quilting!
