Happy Labor Day... Quilting Our Labor
of Love!

|
|
|
As I walk around our store, I have heard many a conversation generated by our very capable staff. Often times this dialog is initiated with one simple question ... "What project can we help you with today?"
The answers to this question can be pretty amazing!
Some of the responses that I have heard range from, "We're becoming
great grandparents to twins so I'm making 2 baby quilts" or "Our granddaughter's volleyball team won their state championship and I'm making a tee-shirt quilt to commemorate it." Some of the more traditional answers we have heard are, "Our son is getting married and I am making a quilt for him and his bride" or "Our oldest child is heading off to college and I wanted to make something to remind them of home." Others have been "My husband is retiring from the military and I want to honor him with a memorial quilt."
Then, of course, there are those responses that many times are
shared with tears ... "I'm making a quilt that will honor my loved one who has passed away as a legacy for our family."
As we are blessed to see the finished works of art, it becomes evidently clear that "Quilting is Our/Your Labor of Love!"
At Arizona Quilts we are so honored to play even a small part of your amazing projects. Whether that is providing fabrics, notions or even long-arming your finished masterpieces, it is truly our labor of love too!

Fiber Arts-Embellishing Your Projects w/ Deb will be held on Thurs., Sept. 5 from 10am-4pm. Come and have fun adding some texture with fibers. Deb will show you how to add different fibers like sari yarn, rattail, thread painting and more to create your piece of art.

Take a Stand Bag w/ Nanette will begin on Fri., Sept. 6 for 2 sessions from 9:30am-3:30pm. This tote is available in two sizes. Either size can be used as a companion to the Running with Scissors Tool Case as a stand. The larger tote will hold an iron or small sewing machine. Bag has lots of pockets with zippers and opens wide for easy access!

Candy Sticks w Gail will be held on Sat., Sept. 7th from 10am-3:30pm. This wonderful, bright quilt is a great lesson in color. The sample is made from Kaffe fabrics, but can be made from batiks as well. From strips or cut goods, you can strip to develop your color palette. The gradation of color begins to create its own border. Be sure to get your supply list which will assist you in your needs and organization!

ABC's of Quilting w/ Susan will begin on Wed., Sept. 11th from 9am-12pm for 5 sessions. This is a great class for beginners or those who might want to freshen up their skills. Even if you have taken her class & would like to re-visit this, stop in and Susan can customize something just for you!

|
|
|
|
Fiber Arts-Thread Play w/ Deb will be held on Thurs., Sept. 12th from 10am-4pm. This is a great technique class where you will learn how to create images with thread, sew through layers of fusible web, add highlights, shadows and dimensions to quilts. Deb will help you gain confidence about free motion quilting, while adding color and design with thread!

Folded Star w/ Deb will be held Thurs., Sept. 19th from 10am-4pm. Folded Star is a bit like fabric origami! The pattern is created from folding and layering different fabrics. This technique was common back in the '80's and is making a comeback! It's so simple to do, yet looks great using modern fabrics.
