September at Kards Unlimited!

We know what you’re thinking; September is Beyonce’s birthday month and do we have a card for that? And the answer is yes of course we do, who do you think we are? But more importantly, September is when we get Margaret Atwood’s long awaited (34 years!) sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale, Testaments, out September 10th! Stephen King also has a new release that day! Stop in anytime between September 22nd-28th to see our annual Banned Books Week display to raise awareness about censorship and intolerance. The 22-28th also happens to be Tolkien Week! Please stop in and nerd out with us as we challenge each other’s Tolkien cred. Our book club meets again on Sunday September 9th to read Stephen King’s Joyland, check out our Kards Unlimited Book Club facebook page for details, and follow us on instagram to be the first to know about new books, products, and cards!

MUSIC
Music in a Great Space Presents the Pittsburgh Camerata

Music in a Great Space, the concert series at Shadyside Presbyterian Church, welcomes the Pittsburgh Camerata, presenting “A Whitman Sampler,” on Sunday, September 29, at 3:00 p.m. Under the direction of Artistic Director Mark A. Anderson, Pittsburgh’s premier professional chamber choir will sing a program comprised of choral settings of the poetry of Walt Whitman. It has been suggested that Walt Whitman’s poetry has been set to music more than that of any other American poet except for Emily Dickinson and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Some call Whitman a latter-day successor to Homer, Virgil, Dante, and Shakespeare. Whitman’s poetry celebrates democracy, nature, love, and friendship. Tickets may be purchased online at www.pittsburghcamerata.org or at the door. The church is situated on the corner of Amberson Avenue and Westminster Place, only one block off Fifth Avenue. Free on-street parking is available surrounding the church. The church is wheelchair-accessible.
