As most of you have heard, I had a heart attack on the 10th of October and have been taking it pretty easy for the most part, doctor's orders, until a week ago Friday. This day I will remember clearly, maybe not as clearly as 10/10/19, as it was when I began my first day of cardio rehab. Actually I was looking forward to embarking on this new journey of doing all I can to strengthen my heart and getting back to a place where I have little or no restriction on any of my daily activities. As Debe and I entered the exercise room, with several other people in the same or worse situations as myself, we all lined up in a parade to have our weight and vitals taken, then the EKG leads strategically placed on our bodies. From that point on I became intimately acquainted with several of the gym's more prominent features (seen above) - a treadmill and stationary bike. From there I was directed to some free weights and then some stretches.
I actually have been enjoying the exercise and the focused activity. At the end of my fourth session last Friday, as I lay back while doing my bench presses, a fleeting thought came to my mind ... keep going you're working on your "Beach Bod"! After a chuckle to myself, I finished my bench reps and embraced the reality that at 60 years old a beach bod is probably NOT in my future! What is in our future is exercising regularly, eating better and being intentional in the care that we give this body that we have been blessed with!
As my strength and stamina gains steam you may catch a glimpse of me around the shop and we also will be resuming our Facebook Live videos, the good Lord willing, very soon.
I have missed seeing your smiling faces and hearing the giggles, laughs, and fun stories around the store.

Walking Foot w/ Carrie will be held on Fri., Nov. 22 from 10am-3pm. It's time to get your walking foot out of the ditch! Join Carrie as she shares her favorite quilting tool: The Walking Foot. You will make a six-patch quilt sampler. You will learn the basics of starting and stopping quilt lines, how to plan stitching paths that minimize back tracking, marking methods, as well as a variety of unique designs, all with your walking foot! Either size can be used as a companion to the Running with Scissors Tool Case as a stand. The larger tote will hold an iron or small sewing machine. You will create a sampler with a variety of designs using 2 different rulers. Learn the basics as well as how to audition your designs! This class will give you the skills to create a block, background & border designs using ruler work.So much fun!

JNQ 5 Day Quilt Camp w/ Kelly will be held Mon.-Fri., Jan. 6th-10th. Join JNQ Certified Instructor Kelly Grant for a 5 day retreat at Arizona Quilts. This relaxed open format quilt camp will enable you to work on any Quiltworx pattern including the TOM patterns. The fee includes 5 days of classes and lunch each day. Cactus Collage Sampler w/ Gail will be held on Sat., Jan 11th from 10am-4pm. This 11-panel cactus pattern is great. Laura Heine created a fun project. It takes time, but is well worth the effort. In this class you will begin to coordinate color using your imagination at all times. We will have lots of fun while exploring this desert!

ABC's of Quilting w/ Susan will begin on Wed., Jan., 15th from 9am-12pm for 5 sessions. This is a great class for beginners or those who might want to freshen up their skills. Even if you have taken her class & would like to re-visit this, stop in and Susan can customize something just for you!

Fiber Arts-Create One of a Kind Fabric w/ Deb will be held on Thurs., Jan. 16th from 10am-4pm. Learn to create your one-of-a-kind fabric with specialty paints. How fun would it be to create an entire piece of art with fabric you created? You will start with a solid white fabric and go crazy with paint, stencils and more. Learn the different mediums to use for exquisite color on fabric. The sky's the limit!

Cattail Mixer w/ Kelly begins on Thurs., Jan. 23rd from 10am-4pm for 4 sessions. This class will cover a variety patterns that have applique, and with the small class size, you will receive lots of helpful hints and tips. Patterns include Basket of Rainbows (new release pattern), Rainforest Blossom, Cattails in the Meadows and some new patterns to be release soon. This class will cover machine applique embroidery as well as needle turn and raw edge applique. Taught by JNQ Cert. Inst. Kelly Grant.

Wedding Ring Series w/ Kelly begins on Fri., Jan. 24 for 4 sessions. This class is always a big favorite, and with the small class size you will receive lots of helpful hints and tips. With so many different patterns and sizes to choose from it is the perfect introduction to the fun of wedding ring quilts. Patterns include Flowers for My Wedding Ring, Grandma's Wedding Ring, Bali Wedding Star, Gemstone and Bali Bedrunner. Come and have fun in this 4 part class taught by JNQ Cert. Inst., Kelly Grant.
