A couple of weeks ago we celebrated Local Quilt Shop Day, which you helped make a great success ... Thank You!!! Last week I talked about the Phoenix Open including some of the other enjoyable events and happenings in the Valley of the Sun throughout the winter months.
This week we are actually in California celebrating a late Christmas with our West Coast kids and grand kids.
I did want to talk about something again that we have mentioned before. We realize that not everyone partakes in social media such as Facebook or Instagram but many of you do. These platforms are not unlike many things online, and should be used wisely.
When discretion is exerted, they can be very entertaining and enlightening.

You will create a strong mesh and fabric bag that is reusable, washable & holds way more than a plactic bag! And it's much prettier too!

Photo Transfer w/ Deb will be held on Thurs., Feb. 6th from 10am-4pm. If you have a favorite photo that you want to turn into a piece of art, well here’s your chance. You will be shown how to print your photo onto fabric, the steps to set the ink so it will last forever, and then create a unique wall hanging. You can incorporate trapunto, thread painting, beads, whatever you want. The sky is the limit. Just let loose and be creative!

Dresden Neighborhood Sampler w/ Gail will be held Sat., Feb. 8th from 10am-3:30pm. Half the fun for this project is choosing the fabrics. You are able to make a Christmas Neighborhood, Halloween, Your Neighborhood, Your Home Town, Color Specific, and detailed with whimsy to your liking, too. This carefree pattern allows you to imagine and just have fun! If you like, later you can create a bigger quilt with sashing, multiple blocks, etc.

Showcase Memories with a T-Shirt Quilt w/ Deb will be held on Thurs., Feb. 13th from 10am-4pm. Love those beloved t-shirts...the ones from concerts, events, vacations, that you've hung onto for years? Making a t-shirt quilt is a wonderful way to memorialize those special moments for yourself or a loved one. Gather your old faves and come learn time saving tips, tricks and design secrets.

Free-Motion Quilting 101 w/ Carrie will be held on Fri., Feb. 14th from 10am-3pm. Join Carrie and learn the basics of free-motion quilting on your domestic sewing machine: from choosing thread, batting, and needles to stitching on your quilt top. Carrie will guide you through a variety of designs, such as stippling, loops flames, etc. Learn free-motion fundamentals to create beautiful quilts while having free-motion fun!

Collage Fun w/ Gail will be held on Sat., Feb. 15 from 10am-3:30pm. The wonderful patterns of Laura Heine come to life and you are the artist! We will explore color fusion, what fabrics work well together and why, color value and placement. Come join us for a great time of playing and creating!

Revealing the Mystery of the One Block Wonder w/ Deb begins on Mon., Feb. 17th from 10am-4pm for 2 sessions. (Session 2 is Mon., Mar. 23rd). Though it looks complicated, this spectacular kaleidoscope quilt is easy to sew: the fabric does all the work! These beautiful quilts are made using only ONE print fabric for the body of the quilt and border - or you can use a different coordinating print for the border. Deb will teach you her time saving tips and tricks to create this "seemingly challenging" quilt.

ABC's of Quilting w/ Susan will begin on Wed., Feb., 19th from 9am-12pm for 5 sessions. This is a great class for beginners or those who might want to freshen up their skills. Even if you have taken her class & would like to re-visit this, stop in and Susan can customize something just for you!

Cheesecloth Art w/ Deb will begin on Mon., Feb. 24th from 10am-4pm for 2 sessions. (Session 2 is Mon., Mar. 9th). Imagine using nothing but cheesecloth and thread to create a masterpiece of your own! This class will teach you how to do just that. Layering different kinds of cheesecloth, dyed cheesecloth and more, you will create a portrait that is unique!

Running with Scissors Tool Tote w/ Nanette begins on Mon., Mar. 2 from 9:30am-3:30pm for 2 sessions. (Session 2 is Mon., Mar. 23rd). This great little tool tote will hold all of your sewing and quilting equipment from scissors to rotary cutter, tape measure, thread, rulers and more. It even has a handy little pressing pad. It measures about 9"x12" and zips all the way around to keep those important tools in place while traveling to classes. It is made with fabric, vinyl and mesh and can be customized to meet your needs.

Fiber Arts-Thread Play w/ Deb will be held on Thurs., Mar. 26th from 9am-1pm. A great techniques class where the student learns how Deb creates images with thread, sew through layers of fusible web, add highlights, shadows and dimension to quilts. Deb has lots of tricks that help you feel more confident about doing free motion quilting, breaking all the rules while adding color and design with thread.

Creating Fabric Beads w/ Deb will be held on Thurs., Mar. 26th from 1:30pm-4:30pm. Make your own beads for jewelry or mixed-media embellishment using fabric, glass beads, decorative threads, acrylic medium, paint and wire-all your personal style-bright, earthy, sparkly, elegant, muted, etc. Make about 10 beads in class and be inspired to make variations of your own!

Desert Sky w/ Kelly will be held on Fri., Mar. 27th from 10am-4pm. The Desert Sky is designed as a beginner pattern to introduce quilters to paper piecing. The project is fast and fun employs simple cutting techniques, and is an affordable and fun way to jump into your first paper piecing project. It is meant to make those new to the process find confidence, understanding, and success. Taught by JNQ Cert. Inst., Kelly Grant.

Fiber Arts-Create One of a Kind Fabric w/ Deb will be held on Mon., Mar. 30th from 10am-4pm. Learn to create your one-of-a-kind fabric with specialty paints. How fun would it be to create an entire piece of art with fabric you created? You will start with a solid white fabric and go crazy with paint, stencils and more. Learn the different mediums to use for exquisite color on fabric. The sky's the limit!

Take a Stand Bag w/ Nanette begins on Tues. Mar.31st from 9:30am-3:30pm for 2 sessions. (Session 2 is Tues., Apr. 7th). This tote is available in two sizes. Either size can be used as a companion to the Running with Scissors Tool Case as a stand. The larger tote will hold an iron or small sewing machine. Bag has lots of pockets with zippers and opens wide for easy access!

Walking Foot w/ Carrie will be held on Sat., Apr. 4th from 10am-3pm. It's time to get your walking foot out of the ditch! Join Carrie as she shares her favorite quilting tool: The Walking Foot. You will make a six-patch quilt sampler. You will learn the basics of starting and stopping quilt lines, how to plan stitching paths that minimize back tracking, marking methods, as well as a variety of unique designs, all with your walking foot! No free motion allowed!

Fiber Arts - Embellishing Your Projects w/ Deb will be held Mon., Apr. 6th from 10am-4pm. Come and have fun adding some texture with fibers. Deb will show you how to add different fibers like sari yarn, rattail, thread painting and more to create your piece of art.
