And Sew On... July 13th, 2020

Many months ago, before a pandemic, social unrest and the overall feelings of uncertainty, Debe and Susan were shown a wonderful collection that immediately pulled at their heart strings. Considering this collection's title of "Sew Kind", you would most likely expect a little string pulling.
In this case, "Sew Kind" has a very special connotation and tugged pretty hard at those heart strings. As we unpacked the boxes and placed the collection on a cart, the audible sounds of "awwwe" and "oh my goodness" were uttered by everyone passing by. We immediately cut a panel handing it off to Racheal who quickly began to construct this truly adorable doll and purse ensemble. We have included the story of Charlotte Gould, the designer of this wonderful collection so that you too can feel that tugging!

children of the world!
In the midst of the things mentioned above, Charlotte's story/collection is truly inspirational and encouraging in the midst
of painful almost daily news.
At 11 years of age, Charlotte Gould is Studio E's youngest licensor ever and she has such an amazing story behind her first fabric collection. Charlotte was born with a cleft lip and palate for which she has had several surgeries, including two before her first birthday.
Her company, Stitches by Charlotte, was created when Charlotte received her first sewing machine for Christmas. With the sewing machine, she made a doll that looked like her with long brown hair, glasses and a sweet smile with a tiny scar. She received so much positive feedback about her perfectly “imperfect” doll that she began to make dolls for other children who were going through scary surgeries too. From a doll with a scar across her chest for the tiniest heart warrior, to a doll with a crown of stitches for a brain-surgery sweetie, Charlotte happily sews to make others smile. Ever since then, requests have poured in from people who believe Charlotte’s dolls can make a big difference. Charlotte and her dolls have been featured in American Girl Magazine, Scholastic News, on Good Morning America, on Fox News, on Disney Radio and she was honored at WE Day 2018.

Walking Foot 101 w/ Carrie will be held on Fri., July 17th from 10am-3pm. It's time to get your walking foot out of the ditch! Join Carrie as she shares her favorite quilting tool: The Walking Foot. You will make a six-patch quilt sampler. You will learn the basics of starting and stopping quilt lines, how to plan stitching paths that minimize back tracking, marking methods, as well as a variety of unique designs, all with your walking foot! No free motion allowed!

Fiber Arts - Photo Transfer w/ Deb will be held on Mon., July 20th from 10am-4pm. If you have a favorite photo that you want to turn into a piece of art, well here’s your chance. You will be shown how to print your photo onto fabric, the steps to set the ink so it will last forever, and then create a unique wall hanging. You can incorporate trapunto, thread painting, beads, whatever you want. The sky is the limit. Just let loose and be creative!

ABC's of Quilting w/ Susan will begin on Wed., July 22nd for 5 sessions from 9am-12pm. This is a great class for beginners or those who might want to freshen up their skills. Even if you have taken her class & would like to re-visit this, stop in and Susan can customize something just for you!

Let's Twist Again w/ Nanette will be held on Fri., July 24th for 2 sessions from 9:30am-3:30pm (2nd session is July 31). Choose from a variety of projects in "Let's Twist Again" and learn to make pinwheels using the Twister Tool. Once you learn this technique, you can make table runners, place mats, wall hangings and even a quilt! Come on let's twist!

Free-Motion Quilting 101 w/ Carrie will be held on Thurs., July 23rd from 10am-3pm. Join Carrie and learn the basics of free-motion quilting on your domestic sewing machine: from choosing thread, batting, and needles to stitching on your quilt top. Carrie will guide you through a variety of designs, such as stippling, loops flames, etc. Learn free-motion fundamentals to create beautiful quilts while having free-motion fun!

Learn to machine applique by making this fun "Happy Holidays" sewing tree that is perfect to hang for the holidays or to give that special quilting friend as a gift! It's only 20"x31" and the color choices and fabrics are what make this class fun!

Create stunning textured fabric art to display on your walls, use in home décor and make into fabulous accessories. Combining hand embroidery, beading, decorative machine stitching and couching, this technique is fun and addicting. The fabric choices will help you make this an exciting and fun fabric art piece!
