We Survived the
Carpet Install!

Yes folks, picking up and moving literally every bolt, notion, table, fixture and even our long arm machine to the suite next door, then bringing it all back in and re-setting was not on our bucket list for 2020, but was necessary to achieve our goal of installing new carpet. When taken into consideration, this monumental task is in lock-step with many other challenges we have had or are still experiencing in this challenging quest of 2020! After burning the midnight oil last night, us and several of our our amazing team, headed home while our eyes were still open enough to see as we weathered a beautiful, welcome and cool late summer monsoon. I, for one, was elated to have some extra testosterone in the building as 2 of our staff members enlisted their husbands to help build shelves, move bolts, or just plain try to return the store to some assemblance of order!
We are still placing products and moving things, so please be patient as the re-setting process may take a few days to complete.
We do want to formally thank our team for going above and beyond to help us move through this monumental task!
As most of you know, we have been open with appointments, but we are now going to unlock our doors again to general walk-in traffic. As with most everything this year, our new opening is subject to change at any time - as it has several times already since April.
We have mentioned it several times in the last few months, but in these uncertain times we truly appreciate the overwhelming support for our store,
our employees, and our city!
We also want to give you a hardy "here here" for your patience with last week's short store closure in lieu of our new carpet instal!

Animal Portrait Mixed Media w/ Deb will begin on Thurs., Sept. 10 for 2 sessions from 10am-4pm (2nd session is Sept. 17). Animal lovers, let's turn your photo into a work of art! You will learn a unique pattern design technique combined with mixed media & thread painting to create an eye catching art quilt! Learn to create animal portraits through realism applique, thread painting and paints, pastels, etc.

Jolly Twister Gnome w/ Nanette will begin on Fri., Sept. 11th for 2 sessions from 9:30am-3:30pm (2nd session is Sept. 25th). Use a Twister Tool to create this whimsical winter gnome scene. Sizes range from 14"x18" to 67"x85" (with many in between) depending on the size of the Twister Tool you choose! Learn how to keep the twists all in order to create this cute holiday project!

Sage Country Christmas Tree w/ Nanette will begin on Fri., Sept. 18th for 2 sessions from 9:30am-3:30pm (2nd session is Oct. 2). Back by popular demand, you can get ready for the holidays with this creative Christmas tree. Using a layer cake or your holiday stash is a great way to make this tree. Nanette will even show you how to add lights to make your tree really sparkle!

Fiber Art-Cheesecloth Art w/ Deb will begin on Thurs., Sept. 24th from 10am-4pm for 2 sessions (2nd session is Oct. 1). Imagine using nothing but cheesecloth and thread to create a masterpiece of your own! This class will teach you how to do just that. Layering different kinds of cheesecloth, dyed cheesecloth and more, you will create a portrait that is unique!

Fiber Art-Create One of a Kind Fabric w/ Deb will be held on Mon., Sept. 28th from 10am-4pm. Learn to create one-of-a-kind fabric with specialty paints. How fun would it be to create an entire piece of art with fabric you created? You will start with a solid white fabric and go crazy with paint, stencils and more. Learn the different mediums to use for exquisite color on fabric. The sky's the limit!

ABC's of Quilting w/ Susan will begin on Wed., Sept. 30th for 5 sessions from 9am-12pm. This is a great class for beginners or those who might want to freshen up their skills. Even if you have taken her class & would like to re-visit this, stop in and Susan can customize something just for you!

Walking Foot 101 w/ Carrie will be held on Sat., Oct. 3 from 10am-3pm.It's time to get your walking foot out of the ditch! Join Carrie as she shares her favorite quilting tool: The Walking Foot. You will make a six-patch quilt sampler. You will learn the basics of starting and stopping quilt lines, how to plan stitching paths that minimize back tracking, marking methods, as well as a variety of unique designs, all with your walking foot! No free motion allowed!

Fiber Arts- Painting Landscape & Sky Fabric w/ Deb will be held on Thurs., Oct. 8th from 10am-4pm. In this class you will learn to creat gorgeous textures and effects that reflect the look of the land, sea and sky through the use of a special painting technique! Bonus - weather permitting...sun printing!

Cork Crossbody Bag w/ Nanette will be held on Fri., Oct. 9th from 9:30am-3:30pm. Have you ever sewn with cork? This class gives you the opportunity to try sewing with cork while not needing to use a large amount. This versatile little bag can be made in 2 sizes and will hold just about everything you need including your cell phone and a small wallet. It can be made with all cork, all fabric or a combination of the two.

Free-Motion Quilting 101 w/ Carrie will be held on Sat., Oct. 10th from 10am-3pm. Join Carrie and learn the basics of free-motion quilting on your domestic sewing machine: from choosing thread, batting, and needles to stitching on your quilt top. Carrie will guide you through a variety of designs, such as stippling, loops flames, etc. Learn free-motion fundamentals to create beautiful quilts while having free-motion fun!

Running with Scissors w/ Nanette will begin on Mon., Oct. 12th from 9:30am-3:30pm for 2 sessions (2nd session is Oct. 26th). This great little tool tote will hold all of your sewing and quilting equipment from scissors to rotary cutter, tape measure, thread, rulers and more. It even has a handy little pressing pad. It measures about 9"x12" and zips all the way around to keep those important tools in place while traveling to classes. It is made with fabric, vinyl and mesh and can be customized to meet your needs.

Fiber Arts - Thread Play w/ Deb will be held on Thrus., Oct. 15th from 9am-1pm.
A great techniques class where the student learns how Deb creates images with thread, sew through layers of fusible web, add highlights, shadows and dimension to quilts. Deb has lots of tricks that help you feel more confident about doing free motion quilting, breaking all the rules while adding color and design with thread.

Sugarplum Stockings w/ Nanette will be held on Fri., Oct. 16th from 9:30am-3:30pm. Be ready for the holidays and have fun making personalized stockings for your friends and family. Make one or several fat quarter friendly stockings with a variety of choices for cuffs and embellishments. These are easy to make so have fun choosing how to personalize each stocking.

Fiber Arts - Creating Fabric Beads w/ Deb will be held on Thrus., Oct. 15th from 1:30pm-4:30pm.
Make your own beads for jewelry or mixed-media embellishment using fabric, glass beads, decorative threads, acrylic medium, paint and wire-all your personal style-bright, earthy, sparkly, elegant, muted, etc. Make about 10 beads in class and be inspired to make variations of your own!

Graceful Baughs w/ Martha will be held on Mon., Oct. 19th from 10am-3pm. You need never fear a curved seam again! This seasonal wall hanging features just enough ease curves for you to master this advanced skill and want to do more! Try your hand at making the smaller project in class. You'll leave with the expertise to make the larger wall hanging on your own!

Fiber Arts-Photo Art Mixed Media w/ Deb will be held Thurs., Oct. 22nd thru Sat., Oct. 24th from 10am-4pm. In this 3 day class you will learn how to take any photo and create a value template and transfer it to fabric. You will be learning a unique applique method using a special knife to bring your photo to life on fabric!
