How many of you have either lived, worked, or been "On The Farm" in the course of your lifetime?
To many of us, the mere mention of those words conjures up an array of thoughts, memories, and maybe even some smells in our minds!
My dad grew up on a farm in west Texas where my grandad worked a section of land, 640 acres, east of the "Caprock" in Scurry County. Besides a modest farmhouse, this diverse piece of land was home to a 1 1/2 acre stock pond, a large mesquite grove where you could usually find 10 or so head of mixed beef cattle, and acres and acres of maze, cotton and other seasonal crops. It even boasted of several crude oil pumpjacks, 3 oil holding tanks and a 30' high separator tank. As a young boy, heading to The Farm every year for 2 weeks was always the highlight of our summer.
When Moda's new collection, "On The Farm", designed by Stacy Iest Hsu, got to our shelves, it stirred up all those wonderful memories once again! It also reminded us of the joy of watching our kids, and now our grandkids, spend hours imagining those times on the farm with the
Little People Farm Set by Fisher Price.

If you remember our newsletter in July, we highlighted Studio E's Sew Kind collection by Charlotte. This wonderful group included a doll panel with a carry bag, two additional friends, and Charlotte's touching story printed on the back of the bag. Fiber Art-Create One of a Kind Fabric w/ Deb will be held on Mon., Sept. 28th from 10am-4pm. Learn to create one-of-a-kind fabric with specialty paints. How fun would it be to create an entire piece of art with fabric you created? You will start with a solid white fabric and go crazy with paint, stencils and more. Learn the different mediums to use for exquisite color on fabric. The sky's the limit!

Walking Foot 101 w/ Carrie will be held on Sat., Oct. 3 from 10am-3pm.It's time to get your walking foot out of the ditch! Join Carrie as she shares her favorite quilting tool: The Walking Foot. You will make a six-patch quilt sampler. You will learn the basics of starting and stopping quilt lines, how to plan stitching paths that minimize back tracking, marking methods, as well as a variety of unique designs, all with your walking foot! No free motion allowed!

Fiber Arts- Painting Landscape & Sky Fabric w/ Deb will be held on Thurs., Oct. 8th from 10am-4pm. In this class you will learn to creat gorgeous textures and effects that reflect the look of the land, sea and sky through the use of a special painting technique! Cork Crossbody Bag w/ Nanette will be held on Fri., Oct. 9th from 9:30am-3:30pm. Have you ever sewn with cork? This class gives you the opportunity to try sewing with cork while not needing to use a large amount. This versatile little bag can be made in 2 sizes and will hold just about everything you need including your cell phone and a small wallet. It can be made with all cork, all fabric or a combination of the two.

Free-Motion Quilting 101 w/ Carrie will be held on Sat., Oct. 10th from 10am-3pm. Join Carrie and learn the basics of free-motion quilting on your domestic sewing machine: from choosing thread, batting, and needles to stitching on your quilt top. Carrie will guide you through a variety of designs, such as stippling, loops flames, etc. Learn free-motion fundamentals to create beautiful quilts while having free-motion fun!

Running with Scissors w/ Nanette will begin on Mon., Oct. 12th from 9:30am-3:30pm for 2 sessions (2nd session is Oct. 26th). This great little tool tote will hold all of your sewing and quilting equipment from scissors to rotary cutter, tape measure, thread, rulers and more. It even has a handy little pressing pad. It measures about 9"x12" and zips all the way around to keep those important tools in place while traveling to classes. It is made with fabric, vinyl and mesh and can be customized to meet your needs.

Fiber Arts - Thread Play w/ Deb will be held on Thrus., Oct. 15th from 9am-1pm.
A great techniques class where the student learns how Deb creates images with thread, sew through layers of fusible web, add highlights, shadows and dimension to quilts. Deb has lots of tricks that help you feel more confident about doing free motion quilting, breaking all the rules while adding color and design with thread.

Fiber Arts - Creating Fabric Beads w/ Deb will be held on Thrus., Oct. 15th from 1:30pm-4:30pm.
Make your own beads for jewelry or mixed-media embellishment using fabric, glass beads, decorative threads, acrylic medium, paint and wire-all your personal style-bright, earthy, sparkly, elegant, muted, etc. Make about 10 beads in class and be inspired to make variations of your own!

Sugarplum Stockings w/ Nanette will be held on Fri., Oct. 16th from 9:30am-3:30pm. Be ready for the holidays and have fun making personalized stockings for your friends and family. Make one or several fat quarter friendly stockings with a variety of choices for cuffs and embellishments. These are easy to make so have fun choosing how to personalize each stocking.

Graceful Baughs w/ Martha will be held on Mon., Oct. 19th from 10am-3pm. You need never fear a curved seam again! This seasonal wall hanging features just enough ease curves for you to master this advanced skill and want to do more! Try your hand at making the smaller project in class. You'll leave with the expertise to make the larger wall hanging on your own!

Fiber Arts-Photo Art Mixed Media w/ Deb will be held Thurs., Oct. 22nd thru Sat., Oct. 24th from 10am-4pm. In this 3 day class you will learn how to take any photo and create a value template and transfer it to fabric. You will be learning a unique applique method using a special knife to bring your photo to life on fabric!

Fiber Arts-Embellishing Your Project w/ Deb will be held on Thurs., Oct. 29th from 10am-4pm. Come and have fun adding some texture with fibers. Deb will show you how to add different fibers like sari yarn, rattail, thread painting and more to create your piece of art.

Revealing the Mystery of the One Block Wonder w/ Deb begins on Thurs., Nov. 5th from 10am-4pm for 2 sessions (2nd session is Dec. 3rd). Though it looks complicated, this spectacular kaleidoscope quilt is easy to sew: the fabric does all the work! These beautiful quilts are made using only ONE print fabric for the body of the quilt and border - or you can use a different coordinating print for the border. Deb will teach you her time saving tips and tricks to create this "seemingly challenging" quilt.

Sun Catchers Table Runner w/ Martha will be held on Sat., Nov. 7th from 10am-3pm. The easiest of the curved pieceing projects. No set-ins or fitting curves together. Make the table runner in class - then let's talk about designing a larger quilt for you!

Take a Stand Bag w/ Nanette will begin on Mon., Nov. 9th from 9:30am-3:30pm (2nd session is Nov. 16th). This tote is available in two sizes. Either size can be used as a companion to the Running with Scissors Tool Case as a stand. The larger tote will hold an iron or small sewing machine. Bag has lots of pockets with zippers and opens wide for easy access!
