Have you tried the Konjac Spaghetti noodles yet?! They are different AND delicious. A few things to know about the Konjac noodles. Konjac and Shirataki noodles are derived from the root of the konjac plant, native to Japan. These noodles offer you a unique strategy for managing hunger because they are high in glucomannan, a prebiotic fiber that absorbs water in the digestive process which slows digestion and delays hunger. In addition to the many health benefits that result from the adequate intake of soluble fiber, Konjac and Shirataki noodles also provide a prebiotic benefit for maintaining gut health. They DO NOT count as one of your protein packets per day. Konjac noodles fall under the DAILY OPTIONAL ITEMS section on your Phase 1 sheet. Because they are meant to be occasional and do not count towards a protein packet they are packaged in 2 perfectly portioned 1-cup servings per box. These retail for $6.99.
IMPORTANT TO NOTE: It is possible to have “too much of a good thing”. Too much fiber can cause GI upset which includes bloating, gas, cramps, and other unpleasant side effects, which is why this item is LIMITED TO ONE CUP PER DAY.

Also new to the lineup is our French Onion Soup Mix. This is great on its own, can be bulked up with leeks, green onion, mushrooms, etc. AND pairs well with the Konjac Spaghetti! Give it a try and let me know what you think.

If you have ever had a gallbladder attack, you know how painful that can be. I want to give you a "science-based" reason NOT to cheat on your protocol, especially with high fat foods!!
First of all, the gallbladder releases bile for digestion of fats (and proteins) into the small intestine. It get's a signal to release bile when fats are eaten. Long term consumption of fatty foods (trans fats, saturated fats) and excess carbohydrates can lead to the formation of gallstones which can interfere with or block the flow of bile, leading to big digestive trouble.
But back to cheating: if you eat a large amount of fatty foods (especially "bad" fats) all at once, the gallbladder gets a sudden signal to release a bunch of bile, leading to acute gastric distress of even a gallbladder attack!
Gall stones take years and years to develop. Unfortunately, the highest risk patients are females, forty, and overweight since having children. Doing a low carb protocol is the best thing you can do for it all.
