This week we are highlighting a collection from Free Spirit called Linework by Tula Pink!! This is how Tula describes her latest collection -
"I have always loved the way a sketch looks before it becomes a more elaborate fabric design. I love to be able to see the thought process, the notes, eraser marks and original ideas that eventually become the artwork we love. The Linework fabric collection is my thought process on cloth. My notes and thoughts are printed directly on the cloth. It’s like a peek behind the veil, like a tour of my mind. Color can be so distracting when looking at the work itself. This was my best attempt to narrow myself down to two crucial elements: Black and White. My main black and white prints focus on animals that live in this range; Zebras, Pandas, Lemurs, Albino Peacocks, and of course a skunk. While I tried my very best to produce these animals in their flaw- less black and white state, the color crept in. I couldn’t help myself. Every print has a subtle ombre of background color that repeats at least twice from selvage to selvage so every fat quarter will contain a full spectrum of color! In addition to the 6 main focal prints I have rounded out the collection with black and white versions of a few of the True Colors prints. All of the colors present in the prints are pulled from the colors in my core True Colors fabrics. It is all designed to go together, each providing what the other needs"

Embellished Bindings-Rattail, Facings & Sleeves w/ Deb will be held Thurs., Dec. 17th from 9am-12:30pm. Let's get creative with bindings! Learn how to apply rattail as a binding or how to do facings instead of traditional bindings. What a way to make your art piece different! You wil also learn how to create a sleeve for any kind of hanger!

Color Theory w/ Debe will be held Thurs., Dec. 17th from 1pm-4:30pm. The biggest obstacle that quilters run up against is how to pick fabrics. Deb will show you how to build a color story for your next project. She will begin with a basic overview of the color wheel, learning the importance of “hue,” “intensity,” “value,” and “shade.” You will create your own color wheel with fabric, helping you become a pro at picking out the right fabrics for your special project.

ABC's of Quilting w/ Susan will begin on Wed., Jan. 6th for 5 sessions from 9am-12pm. This is a great class for beginners or those who might want to freshen up their skills. Even if you have taken her class & would like to re-visit this, stop in and Susan can customize something just for you!

Fiber Arts-Animal Portraits Mixed Media w/ Deb will begin on Thurs., Jan. 7th from 10am-4pm for 3 sessions (2nd session is Jan. 14, 3rd is Jan. 21). Animal lovers, let's turn your photo into a work of art! You will learn a unique pattern design technique, combined with mixed media and thread painting to create an eye-catching art quilt! Learn to create animal portraits through realism applique, thread painting techniques and the use of mixed media, i.e., paints, pastels, inks.

Simply Charming Twister Tote w/ Nanette will begin on Mon., Jan. 11th from 9:30am-3:30pm for 2 sessions (2nd session is Jan. 18). Learn to use the Twister tools and turn them into a tote bag. Choose your favorite Charm Pack or create your own design using 5-inch squares to create this fun and roomy tote to use for all your traveling and creative needs. It has plenty of inside pockets and a snap closure. Size is about 13 inches high by 15 inches wide and 5 inches deep.

Creative Chenille w/ Nanette will be held on Mon., Jan. 25th from 9:30am-3:30pm. Hand-cutting chenille has been around for a very long time and is becoming popular again. Join this class to learn how to use a chenille tool and add some dimension to a wall hanging or small quilt using fabric panels. This is a technique that may look complicated, but is really pretty simple and fun!

Thread Catcher Plus w/ Nanette will be held on Mon., Feb. 1st from 9:30am-3:30pm. Keep all your sewing tools handy with this clever pincushion and thread catcher. Your floor will be free of threads and fabric scraps. You will always be able to find your pins and they will stay sharp in the nutshell pincushion. Also, store your most used tools such as small scissors, marking pens and a seam reipper so they will be close at hand. You will love being so organized that you will want more than one!

City Bags w/ Nanette will begin on Mon., Feb. 8th for 3 sessions (2nd session is Feb. 15, 3rd is Feb. 22nd). Feb. 8th will be held from 9:30am-12pm and Feb. 15th & 22nd will be held from 9:30am-3:30pm. Try one of these new bags that are perfect for travelling overnight or containing all of your quilting supplies for class. Choose the lg. Uptown Bag, the med. Midtown Bag or the sm. Downtown Bag - or better yet, make a set of all three! All bags have zippered tops and pockets on the inside to keep everything organized.
