Bringing Back Summer Events

The chamber is hard at work planning for summer events, including the Arts Festivals and Jams on Walnut. As we plan, we're taking precautions and monitoring local guidelines when it comes to social distancing.

As you know, our members enjoy reduced rates to participate in Chamber events, which attract people from across Pittsburgh, giving businesses an opportunity to connect with new customers. Find more info about becoming a member here.
Congrats to Scribe Fine Papers!

Speaking of membership, Scribe Fine Papers won a year of free membership—in addition to participating in events, they receive: advertising opportunities, listings on our site, inclusion in our directory maps which are distributed to 20,000 visitors, and features on social media. Again, you can find more info about becoming a member

Sold on becoming a member? Here's how to pay your dues:
  • Mail a check to Shadyside Chamber of Commerce, 5501 Walnut St, Suite 206, Pittsburgh, PA 15232

A Message From Our Coordinators

Just a quick note to let you all know that after almost three years with the Shadyside Chamber of Commerce, I'll be moving on to a new position. I'm so grateful for the time that I spent in this position, getting to know the wonderful cast of characters that makes Shadyside great. Your creativity and resilience, especially in this last year, has been inspiring, and there really is light at the end of this tunnel. A huge thank you to all of our board members and our executive committee who have kept the wheels turning.

While I'll no longer be your coordinator, I'm staying in Pittsburgh, so I will certainly see you all in the neighborhood. Erica Friedman, who has joined us as co-coordinator for the past year, is also taking an exciting new position but staying in the city. As always, we will #shopsmall and #thinkshadyside. =)

And now, I'm so excited to introduce you to your new coordinator, Rachel Durkee.

Rachel is a former PR professional currently pursuing her Masters in Social Work at the University of Pittsburgh. Before moving to Pittsburgh, Rachel spent eight years in Washington, DC communications firms, supporting clients such as AllState, Bank of America, and the 2020Census. Now that she lives in Shadyside, she is excited to use her writing, media, and marketing skills to support businesses in her neighborhood. In her free time, Rachel enjoys recreating TexMex dishes with her partner, spoiling her cat, and reading a good true crime mystery.

You are in great hands with Rachel, and I know she'll bring some fresh ideas and energy to the Chamber. Please join me in welcoming your new coordinator. You can reach her at office@thinkshadyside.com starting...now!

All the best,
Leah Simoncelli

Thinning Hair?

Are you noticing hair loss or thinning hair? Come visit one of our highly trained medical professionals at the UPMC Cosmetic Surgery & Skin Health Center for your “hair loss” consultation today. We offer Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy for hair loss. PRP is the portion of your own blood that contains over 150 growth factors that are known to activate the proliferative phase of hair follicles and to act on hair stem cells to stimulate hair regrowth. PRP can be beneficial for both men and women! These treatments are performed monthly for four to six sessions and twice yearly for maintenance. Start sooner rather than later before your hair loss becomes permanent!
