COVID Update
Alongside the Virginia Governor and the CDC's constant updates regarding Covid recommendations, we are planning some changes
to our hours and policies.

The Stitching Studio will continue to be open "by appointment only" through the end of May with curbside pickup and dropoff available.

We are hopeful that local recommendations will enable us to reopen more fully in June - please stay tuned!

In the meantime, keep wearing that mask,
get your vaccine, and be safe!
We look forward to seeing you all soon!

Industry Updates
(a bit of an editorial)
As the world emerges from a yearlong pandemic, we continue to learn how various organizations and industries have been affected by shutdowns and illness.
* The healthcare industry has been overwhelmed as doctors and nurses have worked tirelessly through the months, often sacrificing their own health.
* Schools have pivoted multiple times through virtual and in person models of education trying to serve their students in the best way possible.
* Restaurants have shifted to "curbside pickup" in order to stay open, often losing waitstaff in the process - but they're purchasing more takeout containers than ever!
* The construction industry has seen an increase in prices as the demand rises but supply falls.
* There are 6-8 month waits for appliances, hardware, fabric, thread...

The needlepoint industry is no exception.

From the beginning of your project,
the pandemic has had an impact:
The German factory that makes canvas temporarily shutdown last summer.  Canvas designers and painters have not only dealt with the availability of canvas itself, but illness and shipping delays.  Thread manufacturers have had orders stuck on planes or ships, waiting for a full load of cargo before they move.

Needless to say, it has been interesting, eye-opening, humbling.  We have new customers who were looking for a new hobby during the "stay home" order. Some stitchers have picked up needlepoint again after many years, completing projects they found in closets and attics during a cleanup. We are so happy that so many people have found comfort in stitching!  As with everything else, the increase in demand has altered the supply!

We ask for your continued patience in everything from canvas to finishing.  We are doing all we can to serve our customers in a timely manner, but much of it is out of our control.  We appreciate your understanding.
