Keeping Our Eyes on Beauty,
United in Christ

The recent world-televised Olympic Opening Ceremonies contained what a great many Christians and non-Christians perceived to be a parody of the Last Supper. Others disagree. Whether or not one believes it was a blatant attack on Christianity and actual blasphemy against Our Lord, it is not prudent to assume Our Lord has not taken offense. Let us rise above the sordidness of the whole affair and come together in prayer by attending Mass more fervently and by making reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This Friday, August 2nd, is First Friday. Also, we will as always pray a Holy Hour of Reparation to the Sacred Heart on the second Friday of the month.. Details below.

Fr. Chris Alar does believe it was intentional and  explains why St. Thomas Aquinas considered every other sin to be slight compared to blasphemy. His homily is HERE

Also, let us focus our eyes and attention on what is beautiful in the sight of the Lord, such as the actual painting of "The Last Supper." Learn more about the masterpiece HERE. There are several versions of the image available for purchase or order in the Bookstore, as well as a large, beautiful Last Supper being auctioned off Friday (#022)! See auction details below.

Reparation Prayer
of the Holy Face

Eternal Father, turn away Thy angry gaze from our guilty people whose face has become unsightly in Thine eyes. Look instead upon the Face of Thy Beloved Son, for this is the Face of Him in Whom Thou art well pleased. We now offer Thee this Holy Face, covered with shame and disfigured by bloody bruises in reparation for the crimes of our age in order to appease Thine anger, justly provoked against us. Because Thy Divine Son, our Redeemer, has taken upon His Head all the sins of His members, that they might be spared, we now beg of Thee, Eternal Father, to grant us mercy. amen

IN THE NEWS...

OLC Chapel Renovation Update
We are happy to report that the Chapel is freshly painted, the carpet is installed, the pews have been refinished, the kneelers have fresh padding and new covers, electrical work is progressing, and the wooden backdrop behind the altar should be installed soon! We are  also very excited to announce work is complete on a beautiful hand-painted mural! All the myriad pieces are coming together. We are now on target to open up the chapel for Masses on August 26th, if all goes well. Your continued prayers and donations toward this effort are much appreciated.

2024 Grateful Hearts Capital Campaign Progress Update: A HUGE Thank You...
to all who have already given toward the OLC Chapel Beautification Project. we've raised $83,000 so far! Along with funds we have carefully saved over the years, we are off to a great start and making progress toward our goal. But...
Image
But we still need help!
Due to the size of this project, this will be an ongoing campaign potentially spanning the next couple years (barring a significant donation!) Please consider joining the effort by making a gift or perhaps pledging a monthly contribution. If 2000 people give just $20 each, that would be an additional $40,000. Many hands make light work! Most of all, we ask that these many hands join together in prayer for a successful campaign for Our Lady's Chapel!
Our Lady's Center Marian Shrine is a gift to all of us from people who have long since passed. We are deeply honored to be faithful stewards of their legacy.
Thank you for your generosity!
