SPECIAL ACTIVITIES THIS MONTH

Defend Life Presents:
The Ethics of IVF Embryo Adoption -
An EXCLUSIVE Point/Counterpoint Discussion

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 10th
1:00 pm in the OLC Chapel

Mark your calendars for a very special event! OLC will be hosting a point/counterpoint discussion on the ethics of IVF embryo adoption, specifically viewed from the Catholic perspective. Currently there are MANY millions of cryogenically frozen human embryos existing in limbo. The Church has not definitively moved on what is to be done about this human rights crisis. Dr. Elizabeth Rex and Suzanne Martin will present alternating views of this very delicate but important issue facing the Church and the world. This point/counterpoint format is a unique approach to the topic which OLC is making available to our patrons. Other Defend Life sponsored talks by Dr. Elizabeth Rex in the area will not be presented in this unique format. The discussion will take place at 1 pm on Friday, October 10th in the Chapel and will be followed by a Q&A. There will be refreshments available in the Conference Room afterwards.

Please note: the Blessed Sacrament will be reposed during the talk and re-exposed afterwards.
Also, the regularly scheduled Holy Hour of Reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus will not take place due to the discussion. However, the red booklets will be available for those who wish to use them to complete a Holy Hour of Reparation on their own once exposition is resumed.

Dr. Elizabeth Rex is a highly accomplished Catholic Bioethicist, author and speaker with a focus on beginning-of-life bioethical issues including the authoritative teachings of the Catholic Church regarding Assisted Reproductive Techniques (ART). Read Dr. Rex's full bio HERE.

Suzanne Martin is a graduate of Christendom College with a B.A. in Theology. Her thesis, entitled, 'A Moral Analysis of the Heterologous Embryo Transfer and a Catholic Response to the Frozen Embryo Crisis,' explores the ever increasingly complex moral issues that we as Catholics need to understand and challenge.

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 6TH, 1:00 PM
A Talk by Br. Ryan Asensio, MIC:

True Devotion in 2025:
What does it mean to love the Blessed Mother?
Using St. Louis de Monfort’s advice, we can give Our Lady the devotion she deserves while steering clear of some unhealthy tendencies in popular Catholic spirituality.

In anticipation of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary which will be celebrated the following Monday, come hear a very special talk by a brother who is in formation to be ordained a priest in the order of the Marians of the Immaculate Conception!
Br. Ryan Asensio, MIC is a well known author, speaker, radio-host, and guest on EWTN. He recently accompanied Fr. John McHale to Kibeho, Rwanda. On the journey, he met and interviewed Geeta Etwaroo, OLC patron and parishioner of St. Louis Church in Clarksville. Geeta is a Marian Helper, and Br. Ryan decided to interview her and publish an article about her in the Marian Helper Magazine. You can read the digitized version beginning on pg. 4 HERE or the print version hanging on our bulletin board at OLC! At Geeta's request, we have invited Br. Ryan to speak at OLC on Marian spirituality and he accepted.  It was also Geeta, by the way,  who approached OLC about hosting the Seven Sorrows devotion regularly several years ago. We joyfully welcomed it and are pleased to convey that it is thriving and bearing much fruit!

IN THE NEWS...

One Year Ago You Made This Happen!
Image
This month marks one full year since Our Lady's Center's 50th Anniversary Mass & Celebration. On that day, October 13, 2024, the Anniversary of the Miracle of the Sun at Fatima, we formally unveiled our renovated chapel and had it blessed by Bishop Joseph Coffey. We thought we would remind you of how it looked before and to thank you all once again for contributing toward this beautification project. We are so grateful to be able to honor our Blessed Mother with a much more visually pleasing and edifying worship space for our Masses and devotions, and our many visitors are absolutely delighted.
