Mass & Movie Night at OLC
Wednesday, July 16th

"On the Hill of God"

She didn't come for nothing.    Listen.
Mass 7:00 pm, Movie 7:45 pm
Join us for an evening of faith and discovery with the inspiring story of the approved apparition of Our Lady of Kibeho brought to life in a new film by Fr. John McHale and Diane Dohler. "On The Hill of God" uncovers the miraculous apparitions, the ignored messages that foreshadowed a nation’s darkest days, and the incredible resilience of those who survived.

"Mary, The Mother of God, is healing her children. During the second half of the 20th century, Satan drew the mostly Christian Rwanda into a morass of falsehood, hatred, violence and finally demonic genocide. The wickedness of so many who professed to be Christian and even greater wickedness of some of their religious leaders defies description. In the aftermath of the genocide, there is an unfolding of Mother Mary’s wonderful maternal response to those who cried out to God, 'I believe, help my unbelief.'... God is working to heal the Country and the World through Our Lady of Kibeho who says, 'I didn’t come for nothing.'" - Fr. John McHale
Scapular Investiture
On the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel
Wednesday, July 16th
Following both the 12 noon Mass & special 7:00 pm Mass

Why be invested with the Brown Scapular? Because it is a gift from your Heavenly Mother! In 1251, Our Lady appeared to St. Simon Stock, a Carmelite. She handed him a brown woolen scapular and said, “This shall be a privilege for you and all Carmelites, that anyone dying in this habit shall not suffer eternal fire.” In time, the Church extended this magnificent privilege to all the laity who are willing to be invested in the Brown Scapular of the Carmelites and who perpetually wear it. True devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary consists in three things: VENERATION, CONFIDENCE AND LOVE. By simply wearing the Scapular, we tell her every moment of the day that we venerate her, love her and trust in her protection.

IN THE NEWS...

Fr. Jamie Lancelotta Offers a Joyous Mass at OLC!
Our very own, Fr. Jamie Lancelotta was ordained a priest at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen on Saturday, June 21st. He requested, to our delight, that he celebrate one of his very first Masses in the OLC Chapel, having grown up coming here and even discerning his vocation in part here. Fr. Jamie is the great-nephew of our founder, Frank Lancelotta, Sr., and he is one of the fruits of the many years that you, our patrons, have spent praying for vocations to the priesthood.

The Mass Fr. Jamie celebrated at OLC was packed and absolutely joyous! We surprised him just before Mass with a beautiful chalice and paten. About five years ago, we had discovered this chalice in the back corner of a sacristy cabin. It was badly worn, however it had a very significant inscription on the bottom, "In Memory of Gioucchino and Elvira Lancelotta, Their Loving Children." This chalice was likely over 50 years old, having been a gift to OLC from Fr. Jamie's grandfather and his grandfather's many siblings, including our own founder, Frank Lancelotta, Sr.! We had tucked it away, knowing it would be the perfect gift for Fr. Jamie's ordination, once restored.

Earlier this year, the chalice was professionally replated, first in sterling silver, and then in 24K gold, along with the paten, and inscribed with another message commemorating Fr. Jamie's ordination. Just before Mass, we surprised him with it. He was overwhelmed, never even having known the chalice existed. Then he proceeded to use it. It is a deeply meaningful gift from all the patrons, staff and Board of OLC. Many donated towards it to cover the cost.

At the end of Mass, Fr. Jamie blessed our President, Jack Kissane, and his wife Grace's marriage of 58 years, as it was their anniversary that very day. All were then invited to join us afterwards in the conference room for the reception, to offer Fr. Lancelotta congratulations, receive a blessing from him, and share some delicious cake. Many Lancelotta family members, including Fr. Jamie's mother, Kathy and his Godfather, Sam Lancelotta, celebrated with us. What a truly glorious day!

OLC Sponsors Eucharistic Miracles of the World Exhibit at the 147th Clarksville Picnic
We were honored to bring this amazing exhibit (designed and created by soon-to-be-canonized Bl. Carlo Acutis himself!) to the annual Picnic at St. Louis Church in Clarksville. It was such a joy to share with so many visitors, many of whom are not even Catholic. Hundreds came through to view the boards, loaned to us and enthusiastically presented by Julia Stamero. They also were able to get their photos taken with the life-sized Carlo Acutis cutout. Fr. DeAscanis himself took the opportunity! Visitors were also encouraged to fill out questionnaires to turn in to the Welcome Booth for prizes, and many participated. OLC brought many beautiful religious articles to grace peoples homes and hearts. Along with the entire Picnic, our efforts can definitely be considered a resounding success. We are grateful to Fr. DeAscanis for his encouragement and collaboration in educating and evangelizing people on our exciting, beautiful faith!

Gut-Wrenching & Powerful
Missy Smith, founder of WAKEUP (Women Against the Killing and Exploitation of Unprotected Persons) and tireless pro-life advocate, presented her hard-hitting, tell-all documentary, "Crimes Against Humanity," which explains the premise for the class-action lawsuit she believes can bring down the abortion industrial complex and end the horrible exploitation of the innocent. A small but deeply engaged group turned out to view the evening showing, and a lively Q&A followed.

For over 50 years, countless well-known pro-life advocates have spoken at Our Lady's Center. Many thousands of our patrons have tirelessly supported and prayed for the cause for life and the legal protection of the unborn. Your prayers and participation are absolutely critical as we seek to right the wrongs and end the horrific human rights violations that are happening in our world.

We Have the Coolest Patrons, Benefactors and Volunteers!
Thank you to all who contributed toward our emergency HVAC system repairs, both monetarily and through fervent prayers! Now we have much-needed air conditioning as we head into the heat of the summer. Thank you especially to the various Knights of Columbus councils who have donated significant amounts so far, including
Knights of Columbus Maryland State Council
Knights of Fatima Council #10137
Knights of Columbus Council #2942, Dundalk
Knights of Columbus Council #11341, Resurrection EC
Several other KOC councils have
pledged to help, as well.
Our Mass server and former Grand Knight, Joe Knight, was instrumental in making our need known and soliciting help, both from the various KOC chapters and from individuals, including members of his own Men's SCC prayer group. Our HVAC mechanic, patron Stacey Friedberg, worked tirelessly in the sweltering heat of the attic and outside to replace the equipment. This included having to dismantle the old unit to get it down from the attic, then dismantle, carry up, and reassemble the new one. Stacey was under the gun to complete the job before a necessary scheduled surgery, which he has since undergone. We are immensely grateful for all the effort and a job well done and are praying for Stacey's complete recovery.

We Love Surprise Visits!
We were recently happily surprised by visits from two of our most beloved friends. Ada Vergne and Fr. Gerard Lynch! Ada stopped in while out on an errand, and Fr. Gerard swung by while in town for a retreat. We also heard recently from Msgr. Lizor. He is still at Mercy Ridge. Many of you have asked after them, and so we wanted you to know that they are all doing well and persevering despite various challenges. All three miss you all very much and send their love. Please keep them in your prayers.
