Installation of the Blessed Print
of Our Lady of Sorrows of Castelpetroso
Image
Patrons of Our Lady's Center enjoyed a special Sunday Mass celebrated on March 22, the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows of Castelpetroso, an approved Marian Apparition which took place in Molise, Italy in 1888. The great nephew of our founder, Fr. Jamie Lancelotta, who was ordained just one year ago, celebrated the Mass, blessed the image, and then sprinkled it and all present with water from the Italian apparition site. At the same time, Dan. Roch Kallmyer sprinkled the grounds and perimeter of the Center. The Mass was cantored by Kim Damewood, the mother of Sem. Jordan who is currently studying in Rome. She was accompanied by Megan Gaus. Kims's husband, Mike Damewood, helped to hang the image, along with our founder's daughter, Theresa Pirone, and Board member Carl Kleinschmidt. Afterwards, everyone enjoyed Italian food catered by Tino's, Italian cookies, pizzelles, and wine. It was a glorious day for the great big family of OLC.

The Our Lady of Sorrows of Castelpetroso apparition is closely tied to OLC, because our founder Frank Lancelotta’s mother and grandmother were present in Castelpetrosao during the 1888 apparitions which were witnessed by over 500 people including priests and the bishop himself!

We believe that OLC is the direct recipient of graces that flowed from that apparition. Our Lady spoke not a word but knelt with her hands outstretched in a posture of offering, showing herself to be perfectly united to the Divine Will in accepting her Son's sacrifice for our redemption. If you have not yet had a chance, please come by to the Chapel to see the lovely image.
