Farewell to Our Dear Friend!
Msgr. Joseph Lizor passed on to his eternal reward on Monday, May 18th. He was beloved to many of us, and we will miss him dearly. He was a fixture at OLC for many years, serving on our Board of Directors as Chaplain and as our regular Monday noon Mass celebrant. We hope you enjoy this montage of photos of Msgr. Lizor over the years at OLC. We will treasure all the memories of this gentle soldier priest and look forward to our happy reunion in Heaven.
We have linked to an AUDIO RECORDING of an interview WMET Radio did on site at OLC on Feb. 14, 2017. Msgr. Lizor is interviewed at the 41 minute mark. How wonderful to hear his voice again and enjoy his wonderful wit! The center photo below of Msgr. holding a microphone was taken during that interview. Also pictured are two Lancelotta children with Msgr. Lizor on a day they crowned Our Lady. Also, Msgr. Lizor's penpal, Bess, granddaughter of our President Jack Kissane. The bottom picture shows Jack, Ada Vergne, Msgr., Manager Christine, and Carolyn Niebauer.
For those who were not able to attend the services in Dundalk last Friday for Msgr. Lizor, there will be another opportunity to pay your respects this Saturday, May 30th at St. Mary's Chapel in Hagerstown. The viewing will be begin at 10 and end with a Funeral Mass at 11 am. His obituary is HERE.

A Lovely May Crowning!
After a lovely Mass celebrated by Fr. Cornelius Nyukyu, OLC continued our long and treasured tradition of having a recent First Communicant crown the Blessed Virgin Mary statue in the Mary Month of May. The tradition was begun by the Lancelotta family exactly 80 years ago to honor the Blessed Mother for bringing five brothers home from WWII safely, and the family continues it to this day. Our recent First Communicant, Vivian Melka, did a lovely job crowning the Blessed Mother in her beautiful gown. She was joined by her family, including her parents, Elizabeth and David, grandparents Gerry and Terri, and her many siblings, including her brothers Matthew, who has been employed at OLC for three years, and William, who was just recently hired to replace Matthew as he heads off to serve at Catholic Family Land and then to college! Over 80 patrons joined us in the procession, singing and bringing carnations for Our Lady. We are sure our Mama Mary was pleased!

Sacred Heart: His Reign Has No End
June 9, 10 (Spanish), 11 & 14th
The US Bishops will be Consecrating the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The timing is perfect. Tickets HERE.
Sacred Heart is a new docudrama that invites you into the heart of Jesus as revealed to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque 350 years ago.
Today, the mystery of the Sacred Heart continues to draw men and women from around the world. In the17th-century, St. Margaret Mary has been hand-picked by Jesus to be His special disciple of His Sacred Heart. Through a series of apparitions at Paray-le-Monial, Jesus revealed His Heart to her. Through the centuries, countless others have been drawn to encounter the transformative power and beauty of the Sacred Heart. The film intertwines the saint’s story with testimonies of healing and the love of God from priests, nuns, historians, and theologians who share insights about the beauty of Jesus’ message. The film explores the role of the Virgin Mary as the first vessel of Jesus’ Heart and the way the Eucharist connects us to the Sacred Heart’s Divine love. Sacred Heart is an invitation to experience the mystery of this timeless devotion.

Celebrating Faith & Freedom!
Patriotism is Virtuous
The Catechism of the Catholic Church tells us, “The love and service of one’s country follow from the duty of gratitude and belong to the order of charity.” Likewise, St. Paul remarks to the Ephesians that God the Father is the one “from whom every family in heaven and on earth takes its name (Ephesians 3:15). This is the seed from which the church’s understanding of patriotism grows. It means not adoration of the state nor the notion or “my country, right or wrong,” but the love of home and the gratitude we owe those who gave us so much.
OLC was honored to welcome Robert Dudley, the local author of "Little Known Stories of the American Revolution," to share his wealth of knowledge on how ordinary people did extraordinary things in service to our fledgeling nation. A small but enthusiastic group gathered on short notice and were deeply inspired. Stop in and pick up one of his signed books!
