One of our favorite birds that passes through our yard during Spring and Fall migration is the Wood Thrush. We hear them much more than we see them, and their song is one of the most beautiful of all songbirds. I always get goosebumps when they sing. They used to nest in our yard many years ago during the Summer months, but loss of habitat, predators and suspected pesticides have kept them from nesting for at least the past dozen years. In mid May, we started hearing and occasionally getting a glimpse of a Wood Thrush and I assumed he was probably just a late migrant, cool but not unusual. But he continued to sing and visit our water feature over the next week, and we wondered if he might stay. Last week, our waterfall cam caught him and his new girlfriend visiting together, acting a little frisky! He is officially on territory and fingers crossed they will raise a successful brood. :) Mr. Bird products are back in stock--easy and convenient, birds love the Flaming Hot Feast Seed Cylinders and Cakes, but the squirrels, raccoons and other critters leave them alone! No need to carry a heavy bag of seed out to your feeders, just pop on a new one about once a week.
