Fused Iridized Dragonfly

Create a fused glass dragonfly with sparkling iridescent wings! Students will learn how to angle the wings, include wire legs and antennae and two techniques for constructing the wings. The dragonflies may be embellished with glow-in-the-dark powder to illuminate the wings at night. Patterns will be provided and students will be shown how to scale down and mount the dragonflies for ornaments. We will also make a lily pad to display your dragonfly. As time permits, students can make a dragonfly pendant.

Dimensional Fusing
with Fancy Fish
|

| Want to add dimension and texture to your fused glass pieces or fused elements for mosaics? This class will teach you techniques for adding texture and movement for 3-dimensional effects through the use of various fused glass materials, glass paints, and fiber paper. Students will make a large 7” fish that can be incorporated into a mosaic piece or as a standalone piece. Techniques for adding a wire loop for wall display, and resizing and reorienting the pattern will be covered. Students will also make a 4"x4" fused tile that can be rigged for hanging. |

| Create a colorful fused glass monarch butterfly that can be incorporated into a mosaic project or mounted for display. Techniques will be covered for fusing the body separately or with the wings. Students will learn how to attach hardware for mounting the butterfly for wall display or as a garden stake. Students will also have the opportunity to make a pendant-size ladybug or bee. |

| Wesley Wong is an award-winning artist who designs and produces custom glass art from his studio in San Jose, California. His passion for glass started in 1981 with stained glass, which eventually lead him into mosaics and fused glass. His work features lots of bright colors and intricate patterns and has been exhibited in many juried glass and mosaic shows throughout the United States. Wesley enjoys sharing his glass knowledge with other artists and teaches glass workshops through his studio, at the Institute of Mosaic Art and the Stained Glass Garden in Berkeley, CA., and at the annual glass convention in Las Vegas. He is a member of the Association of Stained Glass Lamp Artists (ASGLA), Society of American Mosaic Artists (SAMA), and Contemporary Mosaic Art (CMA). He has written articles for Glass Patterns Quarterly magazine, and is a regular contributor to the ASGLA annual stained glass lamps calendar. |
