Things are changing in retail with the closing of many retail stores....JC Penney, Macy, Kmart, Sears …..and especially in Christian retail.  Over the past 20 years, Christian retail stores have closed in Brockport, Irondequoit, Webster, Lima, Canandaigua, Buffalo, Utica, Victor and many other communnities.  You may recall stores like Lemstone, Logos, Readers Revival, Catholic Shop, Mustard Seed and Christian Outlet.  The changing music scene and rise of Amazon has devastated many small, local retailers.  Last week it was announced that 240 Family Christian Stores across the nation are in the process of closing and being liquidated.  This means that 200 more communities will not have any Christian retail store. 

Does Rochester need Christian bookstores?  We strongly feel that the answer is YES!  The staff and owners of Alpha & Omega Parable Christian Store are here to serve you, your church and the community, both beleivers and non-believers.   

Why are these stores important to the Rochester community?

Every day we help people select their first Bible.  We know how important reading and studying the Word to those who want to grow their faith.  We endeavor to put the right Bible into their hands...one that they will read and study.  The proper translation for their reading ability.  The proper type for how it will be used....carrying to church or for in-depth study.   We have multiple styles, covers, price points and translations.  Jerry delights in helping people select Bibles!

We help over 80 churches with their Sunday school curriculum, saving the churches the cost of shipping.  It is fantastic that every Sunday, several thousand adults and children in Rochester are studying the same scripture passage.  Carol A. coordinates and organizes the curriculum and church supplies available in the Greece Store.

The Penfield store has a laser engraver that allows on-the-spot personalization of many items including pens, bookmarks, keychains, crosses, picture frames and other gifts.  Need a one-of-a-kind award?  Baptism gift? Wedding gift? Allan, Lorraine and Sue are masters of creating memorable, personalized gifts while you wait.

Prayer is an important part of the mission of Alpha & Omega Parable Christian Stores.  We have prayer boxes in each store, where we daily pray over the concerns of our customers.  Carol, Jim, Mandy and Will regularly spend time with customers who request prayer.  That never happens at Amazon or Barnes & Noble.
