10 WINTER SAFETY TIPS
1. Limit your dog's time outside
2. Protect your dog's paws
3. Bundle up!
4. Consider your dog's age and breed
5. Be aware of antifreeze
6. Use pet and child safe salt
7. Clean your dog's feet
8. Avoid thin ice and slippery surfaces
9. Keep pups hydrated
10. Stay inside and cuddle!
There are a lot of things to consider during this winter season. Choose a warm coat or booties to keep your pups extra warm. Cut time short for walks or potty trips during extreme temps. A paw balm or ointment will help their paws before going outside but, always wipe clean to remove salt stuck in their pads. Be aware of antifreeze and other toxins left out this time of year. When in doubt bring your dog to daycare to play!

At Playful Pups Retreat we are always looking for ways to make a dog’s time with us more rewarding and more fun, so we are spending the next 6 weeks testing a new daycare program we are calling the Canine Enrichment Club. This new advanced form of daycare will hopefully be offered in addition to our traditional daycare. The Canine Enrichment Club will include smaller groups of dogs and a lot more enrichment activities and mental stimulation with a Daycare Counselor. This will be a very interactive form of daycare and will include playtime with other Club members, mental and physical stimulation through a large assortment of activities and structured rest periods throughout the day.

We are excited to announce the position of a new Daycare Manager! Sarah began working in our lodging area in 2011 and shortly after became one of our lodging supervisors. Sarah completed her Veterinary Assistant course before joining us and is currently attending classes to become a Professional Certified Dog Trainer. She has two rescue dogs, Duke and Noel. With Sarah's love of dogs, and the growth in her new position, she will be able to help old and new daycare clients with our exciting new programs!

This months daycare dog of the month is Miss Tahoe. Tahoe is a playful and sassy 3 year old Tibetan Mastiff. Tahoe loves coming to daycare and partying with her friends. Especially her BFF's Hayley, Thor and Lily.
