The FDA has approved a new combination of medicine to treat colorectal cancer, the second-leading cause of cancer related deaths in the United States. Because this type of cancer can become resistant to previous therapy, this new treatment has significant value. Chemotherapy and biological therapy are replaced with trifluridine and tipiracil oral tablets. This new “combination therapy” has been shown to increase survival of patients who suffer from colorectal cancer.
