Did you know that Humane Animal Rescue is the Official Shelter of the Pittsburgh Penguins? The season may be over, but HAR is already looking forward to next season when there will be more adoptable pets and fundraisers like the Pens Pet Collection!
Pens fans dropped off $1,800 and 525 goods donations on their way into PPG Paints Arena to watch the game, proving once again that Pittsburgh is the City of Champions when it comes to giving animals the Love They Deserve. Look forward to more news from Humane Animal Rescue and The Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation as we skate closer to next season! Let's Go Pens!

Summer is almost here, which means it's almost time for another season of live music at JAM ON WALNUT in Shadyside every month through October! We are kicking things off on May 25th for our Red White & Brew party and get a little bit country with Pittsburgh's own Justin Fabus. Come back on June 22 to prove that Disco isn't dead with a live show from Dancing Queen. Humane Animal Rescue is keeping the party going all Summer, where you can drink beer, jam out, and help animals!

New Transport Vehicle Makes Maiden Voyage
Image
Humane Animal Rescue made the first of many local and regional transfers of animals from over-crowded shelters and recue groups to Pittsburgh. The first official use of a new animal transport van, which was funded through private donations, were from two shelters in West Virginia.
The new Relocation Team, lead by Carla Prince and Sarah Shively, have relocated hundreds of homeless animals to Pittsburgh from overcrowded shelters throughout the eastern half of the US with the help of the ASPCA and about a dozen local and regional partners. However, Thursday marks the first such transfer of this size where the transporting of animals was done solely by HAR staff and volunteers. Ultimately, 29 animals were relocated to Pittsburgh through the Humane Animal Rescue’s open doors!

Humane Animal Rescue's CEO Dan Rossi and Board Director Gerry Delon were present at the Northside Shelter for the animals’ arrival; “We are all very excited about this new development in our organization” said Dan Rossi, “Humane Animal Rescue has grown to become one of the largest animal welfare agencies in the region, and now we have the reach to make a real difference in the lives of animals all across the tri-state region.”

This venture was made possible through generous donations and support from the Pittsburgh community. Humane Animal Rescue is taking part in the Fund the Shelters challenge through May 9, a friendly nationwide contest among hundreds of organizations to raise the most funds and to celebrate Clear the Shelters day this Summer. Humane Animal Rescue is holding in the top 10, but we need your help to stay in the lead and win the competition!

Click Here to donate now and help Humane Animal Rescue stay in the top 6!

With more donations, we can continue to pay our experienced staff, maintain our facilities, and expand our programs. Please consider donating to Humane Animal Rescue today so we can continue serving Pittsburgh and giving animals the Care They Need, Love They Deserve.

Humane Animal Rescue continues the legacies of the Animal Rescue League Shelter & Wildlife Center and the Western PA Humane Society in the form of one organization with enhanced services to benefit the domestic animals and wildlife of our region. We provide all aspects of care to abandoned, neglected, and injured animals; reunite lost pets with their caregivers or seek new families for them; educate the community on humane care and interactions with all animals with the goal of reducing pet overpopulation and negative relationships with native wildlife; reinforce a standard of living for animals and prevent cruelty; and provide assistance and medical care to injured, orphaned, or ill native Pennsylvania wildlife with a goal of returning them to their natural habitat. Our open door policy ensures that no animal is ever refused shelter.
