Dear Friends,
WE'RE OFF TO NASHVILLE!!
In response to our last enews, we did get many
inquiries asking for lists of artists making our HURET, BARROIS and JUMEAU and we are so pleased to promote the very talented doll artists making these dolls. With that in mind, we are off to UFDC 2019 in Nashville and many of these artists and vendors including Tamera Herrell, Suzanne McBrayer, Jennie Skyles, Sophie Pearson, Turn of the Century Antiques and others will have booths with their magnificent dolls available for sale. We will be at Publisher's Preview where you can you can see firsthand the talent of Mary Ann Byers, Jackie Chimpky, Ann Ghist, Becca Hisle, Darlene Lane, Mary Ann Shandor as well as those artists named above. The dolls displayed will be dressed in RUNWAY outfits available as patterns and kits by Pat Hauser, Jackie Chimpky, Mary Ann Shandor and the Pampered Poupee. Please do stop by and say Hi if you are coming to UFDC or visit our website to experience all we have available.

For those not attending, please know that there are great things to do to experience the feel of dolly week. You can register for one of the recent Virtual Doll Conventions at
www.virtualdollconvention.com
and view phenomenal videos including  one very special presentation on  HURETS by Michael Canadas of The Grovian Museum. You can enjoy reading your Antique Doll Collector Magazine, www.antiquedollcollector.com and UFDC Doll News, www.ufdc.org.  I am learning of so many collectors who are not aware of the fantastic online IO groups such as the French Fashion Sewing Club at https://groups.io/g/FrenchFashionDollSewingClub.  This group is truly fun and inviting while sharing knowledge and information. Whatever your favorite doll, there are doll lovers who share your passion!!

Our newsletter did include some fabulous pictures of instructional seminars in doll making. Again, we want to thank Becca Hisle, Carla Snels and Yuko Tsuji who are all master instructors of the Doll Artisan Guild (DAG). We are sharing these pictures with you again as we know that many of you saw the picture of our CHINA HEAD HURET and were so speechless and did not scroll down to see these pics below. It is never too late to consider taking classes and painting your own dolls. Or contact one of the above dollmakers (email for our list) and have the pleasure of buying a complete doll and costuming and dressing your own coveted treasure!

It doesn't get better. The photo above is of a seminar recently held at CARLA SNEL's DOLL EMPORIUM STUDIO in Acton, Ontario Canada. Pictured (L to R) are Anki, Yoko, Liz, Susan, Mary, Celia and Claudia. The very well known and respected Yoko Tsuji of YUKO'S DOLL STUDIO in Japan worked with the students to make the Portrait Jumeau on our Dollspart body. Carla and Yuko are DAG instructors. Yuko also created the pattern for the exquisite costume shown made with antique fabric and beading. As you can see in the picture, some of the students did not finish their doll heads yet but certainly did a fabulous job on their costumes. As we said, It doesn't get better and these gals are truly gifted and talented doll makers sharing their doll making passion. Thank you Yuko and Carla for sharing with us!

Pictured above are friends and doll lovers enjoying a seminar at BECCA'S DOLL CREATIONS STUDIO in DICKINSON, TEXAS. As you can see in the photo, the group made the Portrait Jumeau on our Dollspart body and costumed the dolls using our Mademoiselle Adele Pattern DP114 created by the renowned Mary Ann Shandor.  Pictured (L to R) are Vanessa, Becca, Debby, Laurie, Glendolyn, Shirley Ann and Patsy. Pictured below is Beth holding her costumed Portrait Jumeau with Shirley Ann by her side. All of these women are talented, creative and just a pleasure and joy to know!! Very special thanks to Becca Hisle (DAG instructor) who shares her gifted talent, expertise and doll making skills!!

Looking forward to all of us having a fabulous week of dolls and dolly fun. If you don't have a Huret, Barrois or Portrait Jumeau of your own, now is the time to give yourself a Christmas in July gift and truly indulge in a treasure to have, hold and enjoy!
Dolly Hugs,
Barbara
