Don't take down those hummingbird feeders! In Georgia, we do see a small number of hummingbirds throughout the winter. Most of our Ruby-throats leave by the end of October, but some Rufous, Calliope, Black-chinned and other western species winter in the Southeast!

September is a great month to get out and go bird watching! The Atlanta Audubon Society offers FREE guided field trips to some of the best birding spots in the metro area. Bring the whole family and spend some time outside!

Who's ready for fall? Cool days, crisp nights, sweater weather, porch sitting, weekend drives in the mountains to see the changing leaves and pick apples, football games and fall migration are just a few of our favorite things! We have our stores filled with seasonal home décor, gifts, fashion, and items for the garden. Here's a little preview, but be sure to stop by soon to see everything!

Our annual hummingbird banding event at Smith-Gilbert Gardens on September 10th was a big success! It was great to see everyone. Seventeen Ruby-throats were banded and released, and we even recaptured one bird that we banded during the VIP event at the same location 10 days earlier. He had put on 1.5 grams for migration. That's like us putting on nearly 50 pounds in just over a week! Check out this video of a customer's son releasing a banded hummingbird - a chance of a liftetime!
