Registration for Dina Wakley's Four Classes
Friday, August 21
Saturday, August 22
Sunday, August 23

Starting tomorrow, on Saturday, May16, we are accepting registrations for the August 21, 22, and 23 classes with visiting artist Dina Wakley. Dina has been here before and her classes are always terrific. Dina teaches all over the world, and she is a Signature Designer for Ranger, with her own line of stamps, stencils, paints, brushes, and of course, her famous acrylic paints.
We are delighted to have Dina come visit us and I encourage everyoen to take advantage of the opportunity to learn from her.

Class descriptions, pictures and details are below.  Listed supplies will all be available here at the store.   All class fees are non-refundable.
Class #1
Art Journal Play Series: A Cut Above

Friday Evening, August 21, 5pm-8pm, $75

Dina's “Art Journal Play” classes are all about exploring and playing with art journaling techniques. The goal is to learn techniques, experiment, play, and make finished journal pages. We’ll be working in journals, but the techniques apply to all mixed-media projects (canvases, book-making, etc.).
Ready to make art that’s a cut above? Come to this class where we’ll explore cuts and folds and pockets as a way to add variety and interest to our artwork. We’ll work with stamps, stencils, and acrylics to make unique journal pages. We’ll focus on bold colors and images, as well.

Please bring:
  • Basic tool kit: Ranger craft sheet, paint brushes, scissors, water container to clean your brushes, palette knife, baby wipes, paper towels, water container to clean your brushes in, paper plate or palette paper to use as a palette (or you can just use your craft sheet). You may also want a small notebook and a pen for taking notes.
  • Your art journal (Dina recommends the Dylusions journal by Ranger)
  • Craft knife and cutting mat.

Class #2
Awesome Acrylics  Full Day Class
Saturday, August 22, 9-4 pm,  $130
(with lunch break-bring your own)

Acrylic paint is a versatile medium that has potential far beyond paper and a paintbrush. Join Dina for a celebration of all things acrylic paint! We will work with many acrylic techniques and mediums (you’ll create a tag reference book of the techniques), and then put the techniques to work on our journal pages. Of course we’ll play with stamps and stencils, too. Come and expand your acrylic prowess!

Class #3
Art Journal Play Series: Random by Design

Sunday, August 23, 9 am-noon, $75

Dina's “Art Journal Play” classes are all about exploring and playing with art journaling techniques. The goal is to learn techniques, experiment, play, and make finished journal pages. We’ll be working in journals, but the techniques apply to all mixed-media projects (canvases, book-making, etc.).
Do you want to achieve an expressive, random look in your art but have a hard time loosening up and letting go? This is the class for you! There is an art to random, messy layers, and they’re not as intuitive as they look. We’ll go over my favorite methods for achieving these expressive layers and I’ll show you how to combine art techniques in thoughtful ways to create interesting art. We’ll use stamps and stencils and masks to form our randomness into finished art.

Class #4
Art Journal Play Series: Playful Printmaking
Sunday, August 23, 1 pm-4 pm,  $75

Dina's “Art Journal Play” classes are all about exploring and playing with art journaling and mixed-media techniques. The goal is to learn techniques, experiment, play, and make finished journal pages. We’ll be working in journals, but the techniques apply to all mixed-media projects (canvases, book-making, etc.).
This class is a blast as we explore ways to incorporate printmaking into your mixed-media projects. During the first half of the class, we’ll print with common materials such as foam and plastic. Then we’ll turn the prints we make into an expressive journal page. Fun and playful, this class is a great art-making experience.
