Thursday July 2, 2015
Hi all!
Happy July!
It is always fun to see who or what inspires you, from a grandchild calling to ask "are you making me a quilt?" to a picture in a magazine.
Recently Lois came in with a project "in progress". She was inspired by our very own tile floor!
This is an ENGLISH PAPER PIECING project, which Lois has done completely by hand.
Click to check out our selection of ENGLISH PAPER PIECING TEMPLATES here.
Lois has finished the hand piecing and is currently hand quilting. We'll share a photo of the finished quilt as soon as she brings it in. Go Lois!

PATTERN CORRECTION
It took more than a week, but a new friend has called to my attention that the template in our EAU LILY HUNTERS STAR pattern is wrong. I highly recommend using The Cottage Ruler by Creative Grids. I provided a template for those who don't purchase the ruler. I state on the template that two angles need to be 45-degrees, but somehow, my shape got "spread", and it isn't right. If you use that paper template as is, you won't have a pretty water lily. Using any ruler with a 45-degree line, re-draw the side angles so they are 45-degrees from the bottom line, before cutting. New lines illustrated in green below. |

ROW BY ROW PATTERN CORRECTION -
You need to correct the angles on the ends of the TRAPEZOID TEMPLATE. That wrong angle, as my original pattern is printed, will not have symmetric petals

Trapezoids cut with wrong angle.
NOT the shape I was going for.
Sorry for this goof up!

A lesson in geometry, and how fast things can go wrong! Be sure to make the correction before cutting or better yet, get The Cottage Ruler!
This is how pretty they should look! |
